APLA BOD Meeting Minutes
June 22, 2010
 
1.       Call to Order by President Dale Merritt at 7:05 pm (CDT)
a.       In attendance were Mike Bachkosky, Troy Callanan, Larry Kimble, Doug Powell and Bruce Smiley. Absent were Ed McNally, Vic Rompa and Dale Swiderski.
2.       Secretary’s Report
a.       267 members as of 6-3-2010
b.      All membership packets are mailed as of 6-3-2010
c.       All Hunt Test Certificates are mailed, except Alexandria, SD. Included in the packet was an APLA Dog ID Card. Discussion followed about improving the card to be laminated, so it will legible longer. More discussion about having an APLA Dog Registry, how it would help with Hunt Test registrations and identifying the dog and owner(s).
3.       Treasurer’s Report
a.       Balance of $34,502.65
b.      Checking Account balance of 23,216.56
c.       Hunt Test           
i.         Income:   $28,524
ii.       Expense: $28,504
d.      Membership is tracking a 10% decline
e.      Pheasant Fest Registration is $400. MOTION: To pay the $400 booth registration fee to Pheasant Fest. PASSED (Unanimous)
f.        Insurance is due, with an increase of approximately 5%.
4.       Committee Reports
a.       Hall of Fame
i.         Missing a few pieces of information on nominated dogs, Bruce Smiley will be acquiring those, with an anticipated ballot going out to the membership in August.
b.      Hunt Test
i.         8 applications were received to be considered for the fall hunt tests. 7 applications were approved for the fall test season. Location, date and Hunt Test Chairs are:

5.       Website
a.        Discussion how APLA Dog Registry and online hunt test registration will work together.   Some concerns and questions about the pros and cons of “Make or Buy” software for our hunt tests. More information will be gathered from sources by Larry Kimble and reported back to the BOD.
