The APLA 12/16/09 board meeting was called to order by Dale Merritt, president, with a quorum at 7:14pm. He thanked outgoing board members Holly Cart and Jeff Ports for their service.
Present: Dale Merritt, Holly Cart, Larry Kimble, Doug Powell, Troy Callanan, Vic Rompa, Mike Bachkosky. The two new 2010-2011 borad members of Ed McNally and Dale Swiderski were present as non-voting guests. Not present were members Bruce Smiley and Jeff Ports.
Treasurer’s Report by Larry Kimble: For the first time ever all hunt tests were profitable. Congradulations to all hunt test chairmen and secretaries for a job well done. All 2009 bills are not yet in, but it will be a profitable year. Of the twelve 4xGMPR dogs titled through this spring and earlier, seven dog owners have ordered and received their recognition award. The website is fine and the new added feature allows for looking up dogs by title. The newsletter will go out in a few days.
Secretaries Report by Holly Cart: All fall certificates have been mailed out.
Old Business: Hall of Fame dog nominations to be discussed at the next board meeting when the Hall of Fame dog information and photos are presented to the board by the hall of Fame committee board member.
New business:
A proposal for the Hunt Test Secretaries online HTRS enhancements was approved by the board.
Dale Merritt reported on the last step in moving the APLA non-profit state charter from Illinois to Colorado has taken place. This was necessary due to a board members living in Illinois.
Doug Powell report on clothing sales for the year was approximately 10 orders.
A brief hunt test committee report regarding preliminary spring hunt test was given. Deadline for spring hunt test applications is Jan. 20th.
A follow up report was given by Mike Bachkosky on one New York state park ruling that dog owners and events were now prohibited from using all of the park grounds due to a ruling favoring the horse riding clubs. A letter of APLA support for the area dog club's contact person was sent to pass on to the state DNR staff.
A review of the approved judges was given.
