Online Hunt Test Registration System - Thursday, April 10, 2008
MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU STILL NEED TO MAIL YOUR ENTRIES TO THE HUNT TEST SECRETARIES!!!
On line entry of dogs by members is not yet available in phase one of the project. This phase is for the hunt test record keeping only.
Announcing APLA’s custom built Hunt Test Registration System (HTRS)! This week, we will be rolling out Phase One to Spring 2008 Hunt Test Secretaries. HTRS is an online, password protected, application which will allow real time access to membership data as well as certification data. The following features and benefits are included in this release of the software.
Membership information as well as certification information can be cross checked and updated in a prompt manner.
Hunt Test Secretaries can easily enter test scores which will lead to quicker certificate generation.
Improve the turn around time from Hunt Test Events to the results being posted online.
We look forward to building on Phase One to bring you, the members, online access to Hunt Test Registration and the ability to access your certification records.

Effective with the spring hunt tests the Certified Pointing Retriever rules have been revised. The revisions are in red under the Rules tab and Certified Pointing Retriever. The changes are in two areas. The first area is "Scoring" where an individual category score of 1 1/2 or lower will result in failure. Also, the total score is changed from 18 to 21 points. The second area is the change and replacement of the last sentence under "Point".

July 17 07 Board Meeting Minutes

President, Dale Merritt, called conference call meeting to order at 7:12 pm CDT
Present: Dale Merritt, Larry Kimble, Brice Romero, Steve Watkins, Mike Bachkosky, Wendell Wright
Absent: Julie Knutson
Treasurer Report
Treasurer’s Report was submitted to all Board Members via e-mail prior to the meeting. After brief discussion, the report was accepted by the Board. Treasurer’s report as written will be in the next APLA newsletter.
Secretary Report
Secretary’s report was also submitted to all Board Members via e-mail prior to the meeting. Julie is continuing to work on some spring test results that had not been entered electronically, so she must now do it manually, which is of course very time-consuming. Julie requested help from the Board for compilation of the newsletter, and also fall hunt test data. She indicates gratitude for the patience of members in receiving certificates for passing spring tests.
OLD BUSINESS
Old Business—Paid Secretary Assistant position—this issue has been discussed for several months. In light of current data entry needs, the newsletter, and the burdens of the upcoming hunt test season, it was moved and passed that an interim secretary assistant be hired rather than have Julie use private funds to do the work of the APLA. Job duties for a permanent paid position have been drafted, but may require further tweaking before a formal call for applicants to fill this position. Dale is to contact Julie to see if she has someone in mind to help her for the immediate future. By relieving the APLA secretary of data entry, mailings, compilation of hunt test entries and results, etc; the APLA Secretary position will hopefully be more manageable to someone volunteering their time to help the APLA.
NEW BUSINESS
New Business— The Election Committee is to meet via teleconference to set deadlines for the upcoming Fall elections. The positions up for election include the President, Treasurer, Secretary, and 3 Board Members.
Hunt Test Committee
The hunt test committee reports that the majority of premium information for fall tests has been received. The hunt test committee reports that they have received hunt test applications for Spring 2008 and Fall 2008 with the request that these dates be approved. The process previously followed was for all hunt test applications to be turned in by the due date (Spring-Jan. 15, Fall-June 15), all applications reviewed and then recommendations made to the Board of Directors for final approval. In order for all hunt test applications to be given equal consideration, the Board chose not to approve aforementioned test applications at this time. The previously established process and policy will continue to be followed. Early submissions of hunt test applications will always be welcomed and may be helpful in planning of potential APLA events.
Next Meeting
A brief APLA Board of Directors Special Session is planned for for July 31, 2007 7:00 CT. Agenda is to include status update for interim Secretary Assistant position, and newsletter compilation, printing and mailing.
Respectfully submitted, Wendell Wright
