Got together with Jay yseterday as he was in Ks visiting for the holidays. We hit Pawnee Preserve in Ft Scott ks as he wanted to get his little Choco girl Allie on some upland birds to prepare for his GMPR runs this spring. So it was an easy day with no fuels pumps or mud to deal with .  Allie looks like she is ready to me !

Here are some pics of Allie and Cletis. We ran them separate at 1st.

Then we ran them together and it was neat! The last pic they are both right on top of a bird we could not find on the initial point-so we told them to hunt again and they made sure we knew exactly where it was!!

This is the place that I would like to have a PL Fun day. These fields are right along a 300 acre lake. We would likely focus on upland but there is no resaon why we could not throw in some water too. There is a cove that has submerged timber sticking up that could provide an element that most training grounds do not have. The cover this year as you can see is good enough to hold a bird but light enough for even young dogs to handle. There are other spots too with more varied cover as well.

Awesome Pics! Steve, maybe your calling in life is a PL field photographer. Cletis looks good, and in great shape.

Jay, I can see what you mean about the similar look between Allie and Cody. Build, color, coat and even smilarities in point style. I saw her in KY last fall but was focused more on her work than her looks.

Good looking dogs, nice pic's, I'll be over tomorrow!

Thanks guys, and Steve! We had a great day, and had a lot of fun. It sure was fun to have a couple really good PL's on the ground to find us some birds. I think that Cletis taught Allie a thing or two, and that little female has a lot of potential. Steve is right about the land. It was great, and we could do a lot there.

Thanks again for the pics Steve! I'll send you my address.

Hey Steve, why didn't you tell me that we were one bird shy on cleaned birds!  I opened my bird vest this last weekend to a nice smelly pile of feathers.   It could have been worse with a little warmer temps, but still a little suprise.

Jay,  I know what you mean.  I have twice now had the wife complain that the basement where I keep my hunting stuff smelled.  I went down and found a chukar or quail tucked away in that little spot in your vest/jacket where they always seem to hide.  Needless to say it is not much fun to clean out.

Per some of the duck people on the 'fuge a couple of weeks with feathers on is perfectly "aged".
