My post-Thanksgiving fun.  Recruited my lovely and patient wife to help get some Cody pic's doing his thing and ended up with a neat series showing  point, steady to wing and shot, and retrieving.  Yes, it is a hen and was planted (I live in Indiana ).  Cody will "pose" as long as necessary, but the left front foot goes back down after several minutes of us messing with the camera.  Later turned 8 birds loose and took both dogs out for a free-for-all pointing lab romp - lots of fun!

Bruce- Cody Looks GREAT! His little sister is coming along nicely. Taken 14lbs off of her since the "prison break". She's a spunky one now! Let me know if you come out to KS to chase roosters in Jan...

Steve,

Glad to hear good news on Casey.  I tried to add a couple more pic's of the boys but I think the bucket is full on this thread. Cody and Yeager are getting along great.  I could not ask for two better house/family dogs.  Yeager's abilities as a gun-dog advance dramatically each time we are able to get him out.

We will chase roosters any time we can.  January in Indiana typically means Geese and Mallards on the rivers.

Looks good Bruce! Doesn't he have some Cajun in him? He has a lot of similarities to my Allie dog, and she's out of Cajun, so that's why I ask.

Gotta love those choco dawgs!

Just trying to let them get out a little to make a retrieve out of it.  Uh, yea that's right, Steve, I am hip shooting - just trying to challenge myself so that one day I may reach your legendary status as a hunt test gunner

I also just realized I got the wrong point picture associated with the retrieve and flush (Cody is wearing a collar in the second two pic's but not the point).  Tried to replace it with a "green collar pointing pic" but apparently the server is getting full and won't take any more pic's.

Bruce-Oh we noticed all those little items, but the most curious thing is that fancy white "Michael Jackson special" shooting glove! May need to get some of those babies!! I'll bet you are wearing only 1 too!! They may frown upon that in some parts of KS though.

Yea, you caught me. Rubber-fronted gardening gloves. I swear I only used them once, on a whim, when I picked up the birds that morning the gloves  were sitting there in the V.P. when I bought my coffee, uh, I really don't know where they are anymore. Seriously though, they are cheap and keep the bird crap off your hands and nice gloves when training. Also, since they are rubber, would not transfer human scent to the birds. Frankly, though, I have never found human scent to be the issue that some people make it out to be. OK, I really just think they look cool.

BTW - Just to be correct, I think this is the point that goes with the second two pic's above since he only wore the green flat collar on one bird that day.
