Some of you may have seen this pic on the 'Fuge, so this is for those who didn't. Went out to hunt last Sunday. We have lots of birds in the freezer already, so now it's just hunting purely for the pleasure and "doing something different". I told my wife that I was going to see how long it would take to get one of each of the birds we were hunting that day. Goose, Duck, Pheasant and Quail in 24 minutes. It was a kick for sure.

Less than a normal day for Casey. We have taken LOTS of birds this year (the larder is full), so now we just do fun stuff. Let ducks and geese come in and just watch them and observe their habits - Only shoot quality birds - We don't pressure the pheasants or quail etc etc. Last year we took 132 birds (various species) and this year is almost at that mark already. .

"Let ducks and geese come in and just watch them and observe their habits - Only shoot quality birds." If it flys, is in range and still legal........it is a "quality" bird.

You've got to be BS-ing us a little (or a LOT) , Doc.  You're saying that you killed a limit of ducks, geese, pheasant and quail in 24 minutes?

And people tell me I'm B'S-ing them when I tell them that I killed 3 pheasants in 10 minutes after a snowstorm out in ND!!!  But it's true!

Did you shotgun the whole works in a pen with one shot?

were any of the birds wild?

Not trying to be a smart-ass... just wondering how that could be possible.  That would take about 3 days of hunting or more,  for anyone else other than you.

djj

*just reread it.... I'd still call BS on him killing one of every type of wild bird....  and if he got a limit of every one in 24 minutes, all the more power to him.

(I'm not against you Doc, I just bought my sister a pup out of Tiger Mt. Grace.)

I will try to convince her to feed that pup EaglePack food... or whatever it's called.

, Nope Dannoj-- That's NOT what I said -- If you will re-read my post, it says One of Each of each species that we were hunting. Nowhere did I say anything about limits. .

Were Doc lives it would be entirely possible to do this. I doubt any of those birds are pen raised.

Yes, all wild. The only time I hunted Casey on pareserve birds were in his first year of Upland hunting (so I could have more control) after that, it's been wild birds only. .

Casey just turned 7 on Jan 12 -- We are planning on a Casey pup (hopefully a Casey x Berry pup) in another year or two. David Mork has a Casey x Berry pup (Scarlet). All of the pups from that litter were a deep fox red and all are pointing fools.................Really pointing fools.

Rosie is a brilliant Fox Red female that lives about 50 miles from here. Casey was a Grits x Gina pup.
Casey and Rosie have had two litters --- some of the finest PLs I have ever seen in my life.
