Some folks go shopping the day after thanksgiving...I on the other hand am not a shopper..so I took my sweeties son in laws..and her grandson pheasant hunting...

This was the first time for one of them to ever hunt...and he made a great shot on the first bird up.....In total we got 6 birds...with only one fly away...not bad for a couple of rookies....

Ellie did great..she had a couple of nice points..but got alittle tired towards the end...I cannt wait for Dragon to get older so she can spell her sister after each field...

When we finished...I brought Dragon out of the truck and let her have some fun....every pheasant feather she found she would lock up....I then tossed a dead bird for her...and she was in 7th heaven.....she ran out to it....picked it up instantly..and retrieved it like she's been doing it for years....

Sounds like a great, fun day, Stu! I'd rather be out with the dogs than shopping too!

Stuw,

First of all Congratulations on the Board Position!  Ah yes, I remember an evening in a cheezy motel parking lot in Iowa when you announced your intent to run.  At the time, you were a lowly hunt test Marshal in a pink shirt.  Now a board member.

Had the same idea after Thanksgiving.  No geese in the area at all so I bought 8 chukar and 6 pheasants.  Used the first few for some testing on the new black dog and then got some nice pic's of Cody on point.  Will post them up when I have more time.  Released the remaining birds and had a big PL bird shooting romp for a few hours!  Amazing how many birds you can stuff into a strap vest if you really need to.  Yes, WAY better than shopping!
