Diesel, Cody, Cash, and some unlucky ringnecks

We went opening week this year to hunt areas east and south of Mitchell.  I have not gone out there this early before and now know why.  Lots of standing corn.  Our hosts were working hard to get the corn ran or stripped for us but there were still large fields standing in the sections we were hunting.  As a result our normal "honey-holes" were now just holding a few birds.  We worked hard, pushed a lot of ground, and the 8 of us ended up with around 20 or so a day on average.

Thanks to Jason for letting me take the Diesel dog out for a fresh set of legs to run with Cody.  I have never ran two dogs before so it was a real treat to handle Cody and Diesel while they ripped up a field.

Bruce we haven't had much problem filling.  I have guided 6 days and longest outing has been five hours.  But where I am guiding most of the corn is out.

Hey Joe this old homestead is a honey hole for phesants.  There is a dug out right behind the homestead that always holds a couple of hundred birds in the cat tails.

Bruce Misty is doing great.  Little short on time to work with her much for a couple more weeks but she travels with and is showing a ton of point for eight weeks.

Let us know how it goes.  You will notice that I finally got a topper for my P/U.  So now you don't have to blow me crap about hauling my dog around in an open pet porter.  Spoiled brown dog still rides in the cab most of the time.  How can you share your fries if they are all the way in back?

Brad, I'm with Joe - you might want to think about upgrading the "standard" accomodations a little.  Looks like that place has more issues than even duct tape can fix.
