01/11/2006 9:12 AM Alert

Has anyone hunted Marais Des Cygnes (south of Kansas City)?  I've never been there but understand there are a lot of geese.  I'm planning a trip down there 11-12 Feb with a hunt'in buddy.  If anyone has any tips I would like to hear them!!

Thanks

Carl

I went down before goose season opened on the lake chasing ducks, and the geese came into the duck decoys. Went back when the goose season opened and did not see one goose all day. I also am thinking about the last weekend at Cygnes we can only hope that it gets cold enough that the rest of the water has ice on it and the geese are there. If you are taking a boat blind you may have better luck, I have seen the geese as well as the ducks just raft up in the middle and not move. We have hunted both the north end and the south end, not sure if one is better then the other just depends on the wind direction. This is the last weekend and I hope to see some white and black.

Thanks for the update but it looks like I will miss the last weekend.  I just got a off a long business trip and the wife put her foot down.  Had to pick between the last goose hunt for the year or a hog hunt in OK.  - I went for the Hog Hunt!!
