I have started hunting with some guys that have hog dogs and it is the most exciting hunt I have ever been on.  We don't take any guns.  IF we do kill the hog we use a knife.  Most of the time we just tie the pig up and haul it out to fatten up to butcher or sell to a hunting preserve.

These guys have some cur dog crossed that have Airedale and cur dog in them for the bay dogs and they have American Bull dogs and Curdog/bulldog crosses for catch dogs.

It is a huge rush to wade into the pack of dogs on a hog and flank a 200 lb boar with a couple of bulldogs on its ears and nose.  IT takes a break stick to get the bull dogs off the pig.  The cur dogs will let go most of the time.  YOu do all of this while hold onto a fighting, squirming squealing hog.  Talking about getting your heart beating!  I hope the picture uploads.  THe truck in the picture has the rack on it that the cur dogs ride on until they strike a hog.

I was down in Mississippi duck hunting a few years back and we got to go hog hunting with dogs twice while we were there. Unfortunately, we didnt get anything, but it was fun and the rush of catching a hog with your bare hands and/or killling it with a knife would be awesome!!

Thats crazy stuff! I prefer a rather large caliber for hogs! I will say that the Hog meat is among the best eating of all the wild stuff you can harvest.
