Well my Dad and I went out duck hunting yesterday, but the birds were about 8 miles up, I did get out the telescope on a few of them and noticed that they had their oxygen masks and tanks on, so at least they were safe.

When we got to the ramp at o'dark thirty we launched the boat for it's maiden voyage(as a duck boat anyway), Dad went up to park the car and I started getting the boat ready.  tying it off to the dock I dropped something out of my pocket and right into the water.  I had my head lamp on and tried to peer in, figuring it was lost forever, it was.

I thought about it for a second, then I realized I had just dumped the dogs electric collar.  I figured that would be an easy sell, Hey Fiance, we didn't really need those invitations printed did we? we'll just get another shock collar instead!!  so I grabbed the spot light out of the boat and I could see it down there, and fortunately this ramp was one of those that there were concrete slabs about two feet wide and then a space through like a gap.  And boy were we lucky, it fell right down the crack.  But it was only 8 feet deep.  So we poked at it with the paddle(too deep), tried to rake it out with a long rake sitting around the marina all the while it was getting lighter and we wanted to get out hunting and decided it would be there when we were done hunting.

Not a shot was fired all day so we made it back to the launch in the afternoon to find that yeah, the collar was still there as we expected.  We went up and talked to the owners of the marina and fashioned up a long fishing pole and made a hook out of some bailing wire.  So what are the chances of pulling out a shock collar and a choke chain from between the crack in 8 feet of water...yeah not very good.  But I managed to hook it...first try even and got both the collar and the choke chain!!  It was the only "catch" of the day.

Thea had fun, even if it was a bit boring a few times...she really likes her platform on the boat though!

She could see the ducks up there, but they were a bit too tall.

The pizza on the other hand, she thought that was close enough!

Pizza,  what Pizza?

Great pics,  you are going to have to get that dog on some ducks cause she looks bored.

That is one memory you and your Dad will not forget.  Come on admit it.  You dropped it on purpose thinking you might get one of those new Tri Tronics G2's and then started feeling guilty and went back and fished it out.

Hehe, Yeah right! I was about to strip down and jump in while it was still dark, but my much wiser Dad decided that might not be a good idea...yeah it was a fun day. Like I always say, "I learned a long time ago that you don't have to shoot anything to have a very successful hunt."
