Well, bird season started for me yesterday. Have been real sick and missed opening weekend (some bad stuff). Still under the weather a bit but loaded Rufus up yesterday as every time I went out I got the "look" ;) He has had alot more quail work than pheasant work...... but that did not matter. In five minutes he went on point and I walked on in and kicked it up, I had my first rooster. A few minutes later he nailed a point again and I kicked it up and missed the shot (dumba** :lol. After it landed the second one decided to be a runner and Ruf did something I had never seen him do. He figured out the bird was running back and forth on him. So using the wind he started out in a big circle working around the bird closing the gap on each pass. When upwind of it he hustled it up until the wind was in his favor again. Eventually this spiraled down and  the big old rooster knew he was had and stopped. Ruf gave point so I walked on in and kicked it up and nailed it this time :lol:I have never got my limit that quick and although it was short I thought I had seen some pretty good birdwork from a dog thats only been on pheasant a few times versus alot fo quail work. I did manage to take some pics of him on point this time. Looking forward to tomorrow as I have recently picked up some ground thats been in a family for awhile and just rabbit hunted on. I have heard from two people that the quail coveys are numerous on it (he-he-he) . So hopefully some good bird experiences for my pup Belle and I am sure the game bags for all three of us will fill up with Ruf's help  ;)  Craig
