Kevin,

Is that black dog (pictured alone) the one out of Delta and Jesse? That would be Cricket's sister.

Where about in SD were you hunting....those skunks can be a bad deal if you don't watch it. Happened to me recently in South Dakota....rock star will point and then i willl attempt to flush and find that stinky thing and we will do the best to protect me.

We made our 1st trip up to SD last weekend. (Sure glad I did not stay home to watch the Chefs!) We were in the S/E corner of the State- They had 8" of rain a couple weeks ago-Lots of the places we hunt were reported to have been underwater after that big rain. Now the farmers are way behind so still a fair amount of standing crops. All that being said we still found some roosters.

1st pic- Chief has that "puberty" look ;)

2nd- Chief retrieves the 1st Rooster shot with the new 16Ga

Rob-We have had a few points. Most all of the hunting has been driving/blocking type stuff with birds busting whenever and hopefully in range. The 16ga seems to reach out as well as the 12Ga and carries NICE ! Kevin- Ol' Cletis says thanks-I'd say the pic's make him look better then he is at this age. Really need to find a crp field that holds birds to work the pup. I have done so little with him training wise-gonna make someone a heck of a project soon! Julie-you out there?? ;)

Ok, Round 2 up in South Dakota!! We seen a ton of birds!! But really had to fight to corner them. The would get up buy the hundreds!! But one hundred yards ahead of us! The dogs had some good points on hens! But the roosters were not sticking around!
We were driving down the road and seen a rooster! Stoped got out and a ways away around a tree pheasants started to get up it took about 45 seconds for them to stop getting up! Jerry, Jeff and myself just watched in aw of this sight! Or guess was about 300 to 400 birds! It was magical!! WE finally ended up getting one out of that! But the bird was no comparision to what we seen!!
In one field in the afternoon we stoped in a field when we seen some birds fly into it! we went in the field and watched hundreds of birds fly from across the road passed us and into the field, This went on for over an hour!! Kinda like dove hunting!! It was crazy!
  Here is a few pics!
   1. Zoie retrieving a phez!!
   2. Jeff with his Pheasant!
   3. Jazz retrieving a bird!

Kevin-Thats Awsome-Never saw birds like that. Was in the SE corner of SD last weekend. All the fields had a thick layer of ice and frozen snow. Everyone slipped and fell more then once. Still got birds-but walking accross any kind of a ag field was terrible-could only walk in the grass / weed cover that was heavy enough to give traction. Later on Sat afternoon heavy snow hit-It was neat finishing Sat in a snow storm. Sunday that 3" snow gave a false sense of traction in the ag fields-then your feet would fly out from under you-dogs and hunters fell all over the place again. Even with all that was a good hunt-but no pics this time.
