Tug and Steve,
Thanks for the compliments..but Earl is all Legs and all puppy still....he's coming around and should be a great dog. by far one of the smartest and most willing to please dogs I own..(and my other dogs both live to please) We're heading to South Dakota the day after Thanksgiving..I can only bring 2 dogs with this year..so its going to be Dragon and Earl...I'll let you know how they do when I get back..

Great pics Steve,
We may have a contest going on here on whos dog is going to be the tallest...

We got 13 ducks yesterday morning for 3 guys..mixed bag again..Blue Bills, Ring Bills, Golden Eyes, plus one Mallard...and one Redhead...I'm giving up on the banded Canvas Back..but brought one of the most beautiful Golden Eyes I've ever seen to my buddy the taxidermist...

After duck hunting we went grouse hunting...we found 12 birds..but they were of course in the meanest nastiest cover you could find..we got a couple..but should have had atleast 4 more thanks to me...(cannt believe Im going to tell this story)

I switched guns from my Benelli Auto to my 870 pump...first bird up..two of us missed it..2nd bird up...no shot...walked a couple of 40's with no birds...came down thru this nasty swamp and they started flying everywhere...I pull the gun up and nothing, gun wouldnt fire.....7 birds fly away..I'm pissed..then I remember..its a pump..you need to pump the old shell out to get a new one...So I do..just in time for the 8th bird to take off...I drop that one...Ellie makes a great retrieve...all the birds went the same direction so we head out after them...I jump one and click...GRRRRRRRR...I did it again...ejected the spent shell..for a good one and got the next bird up...twenty mins later..the same thing..BIRD UP..AND I DIDNT EJECT THE SPENT SHELL...needless to say..I caught a ton of crap from my hunting buddies...and it was well deserved..next hunt..the pump stays home...

One highlight of the hunt is we took "Daisy" with..she's a 14yo Golden..that got to make probably her last grouse hunt..and she even got a bird...Earl did great..that dog/pup put on more miles the the other 3 put together...the other dogs pretty much quarted infront of thier owners...Earl would run back and forth from hunter to hunter...he's the one that got most of the birds up...I wish I had brought Dragon with also..but she's still at David Morks for a couple of more days..

I see the pink theme is continuing, 2BD!

Great pics, Stu! Ellie looks great-and it's special to see old dogs out doing what they love!

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
