| The 2007 Grouse Season should be top notch. We had a lot of deep snow in the mountains (Grouse country), so there was a big carry-over of breeding age adults this Spring. We only had one rainstorm during the hatch, and it was at night (most of the chicks should have been under mom). There is a huge amount of blooming on the Grouse's favorite foods. Here are a couple pics:
Pic #1 is of Thimble Berry blossoms. Thimble Berries are a Grouse favorite during late Summer and early Fall.
Pic #2 is of Wild Roses. Rose Hips are a Grouse staple from mid-Fall to the end of Winter.
And, yes, that IS how thick the cover is where we hunt Grouse.

| I wish our grouse numbers were up....still pitifully low numbers around me....combination of too many predetors, too many hunters, not enough forage, and not enough snow..I hear that if I drive an hour north or so...their numbers are looking better... |
