I have heard this term repeatedly but I have not heard exactly what it means. Clearly it is a daily training ritual but what does it consist of?

The Walk is a technique advocated by Julie Knutson in her training book. You can buy the first section on line at http://gunclub-labs.com/training_the_pointing_labrador.html

She is a frequent contributor to these forums, so I will defer to her for further explanation, if she is so inclined.

It is simply a daily walk with you and your pup, no one else.  The goal is to walk in and through natural vegetation and foliage.  Set your pup down and begin walking - he will want to stick close to you.  The time is spent mainly quiet, allowing pup to absorb his surroundings.  Let him learn to run through tall grasses, up hills, over logs, ect.  Let him learn he can handle a wide variety of terrain.  Let him learn to use his nose, ears, and eyes.  Walk at a pace that challenges the pup to keep up with you.  In this way, the pup becomes responsive to you and your every move.

What a great answer Lindy Rig! The Walk serves lots of purposes, relationship, exposure to the elements in which you'll evntually hunt and time for a pup to learn about itself and its world. And a few more things, but you'll figure those out when you spend the time alone out there with your dog!

Some of us are more anxious than others! No option for a "downloadable" version?

Not a sore subject, but a longstanding one. There will be a complete update and info on our website (www.gunclub-labs.com) after Monday. I'll use that to pass information, as I have promised I would not use the apla site for self promotion in any form, outside my Super Model activities which I shamelessly promote here.

No, something else hurts after this past week and weekend.

My brain sizzles every time I read anything from Julie, or talk to her.  That lady makes me think in ways that I'm not used to thinking.....like a dog!

Pinup?   Why didn't we get one of those at the seminar?  Oh, that's right, because it was snowing!

Alaska is a great place to be. I enjoy it every day. Julie, I have the section 1 I down loaded, but it only goes to about six months and my girl is almost four now! Any chance I will be available in the next two months?
