Seeing that it's kind of slow around here, I thought that I may give a product review on a new collar strap I just got a month or two ago. Buddy showed me a collar made by Bumper Boy at the Evan Seminar the spring of last year, and I thought that it looked fairly good (I'm also a toy junkie), so I went ahead and put in my order. Well, close to a year later I finally received it and was happy to see some improvements. The main theory on the collar is that a dog's neck changes shape as it is in motion, and good e-collar contact may be lost during this time, so BB incorporated a rubber "band" into the collar that kept the collar tight. The original collar that Buddy had was designed with rubber tubes as the band, but the new one has a molded elastic strip that attaches to the collar with screws. They sent an extra band with the collar, so replacement is very easy if needed. There is also a solid cable that is across this band to keep you from overtightening the band, or to keep the collar on the dog if the strip breaks. It's actually a good bit of rubber, so I believe that it will last a good while even though it will have to be replaced sooner or later. As far as the actual collar goes, it has a rubber feel to it, but very stout. It feels a little thicker than a regular collar, and fits snug on my TT receiver with no slippage. Anyways, being the beginner that I am, I've experienced a collar that hasn't worked during work simply because I didn't get it tight enough to begin with, so this was my basis of purchase. I've found that I'm not very good at getting the tension right with a normal collar, so I started marking the collars when I found a stud hole that worked. Well, after a couple of dogs, I've got lots of marks. I know, I know, it shouldn't be that hard, but I've gone both ways, and I don't want the excuse that I didn't put it on right.... Back to the review, the new collar works great! For the veterans out there, you may not want a new "gadget" to complicate a simple matter, but for a guy like myself, it has almost simplified the matter. I put it on any dog, get it snug, and then give it a little stretch. Since I've started using it, I have never had a problem with it being too tight, or too loose, and that's pretty good for me.
Sorry for getting so long winded on a simple subject.
