What are the color of dummies that dogs can see better. I heard that dogs don't see orange as orange. Is this true? I would like to read something that explains what dogs see and what they don't. If dogs don't see the orange, then why would they make orange dummies? Maybe I'm the dummie. If I am trying to build confidence in longer marks and marking ablity, what color should I use? Thanks |

Dogs see in black and white (well, sort of), so orange looks more gray, like grass. The reason for the orange is so that we can easily see it, but the dog can't. These bumpers are used primarily for blind work in which you want the dog to use your hand signals (because you can see it), and their nose to find the bumper. Black and/or white bumpers are used for marking. The norm is white, but if you have a light back ground then you may want to use black (such as snow). I personally like the bumpers that are half black and half white, that way I don't have to worry so much about the back ground. Another suggestion is to get the black and white flags/ribbons that can be attached to your bumpers for marking. This gives a lot of extra motion and makes the marks a lot more visible. They are fairly cheap at lion county and other dog places.

| Orange bumpers are great for blind work. Some folks will also use them for more adanced marking drills. Most folks will use white or black and white bumpers, maybe even with flags attached, to help the dawg see the mark. |
