I ran and Passed Brady in our first ever HRC Seasoned Test. He did a great job. If you have never run HRC you have to try it. It was a blast. (especially when you come home with a ribbon!) I am running him again tomorrow and will upload some pictures hopefully after a second Pass.
Brady had no problem with the test, I think he was worried that the nervous handler would blow it for him. There is a lot to do and remember in HRC. Loading, shooting, Off and Safe, etc, I was a nervous wreck but we got er done!
There were several pointing lab folks at the event. Will Frost passed his dog in Started, and Brett Bunk had a dog there. Larry Kimbles " Chops" got his Started Title today.

Way to go Joe! Lots to do at the line in HRC makes it hard to relax.
At last year's World Retriever Championships, a field trial trainer/handler was using her dog as the test dog. She was strictly field trial focused. After a few series of doing the hunt test "stuff" at the line (handling the gun, duck calling and shooting at marks, diversions and blinds), her perfect comment was it's like "jump down, spin around.....pick a bale of cotton" at the line. Does that sound about right Joe? |

You got that exactly right Jim! Everything happens fast and if
you get an old crusty 870 that takes both hands to shuck a shell it
gets even more exciting. It was not really that bad, I am just way to used to my semi auto.
Brady is now two for two at HRC events! We got our second
Seasoned Pass today. He did great despite the knuckle head
handler he had.
Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend.
See you all in Iowa!

Stu...Amos picked up all his chickens at Land 'O Lakes HT, which gave him a total of 40 points. Which means a new name "CPR HR Lime Creek's Famous Amos JH". Hoping to change it one more time this spring, I like the sound of APR vs. CPR!!
Joe.... I wouldn't use any swamp water, I would get it right from the dog dish!! |

Way to go Doug! Feels good dont it. Are you running your dog in IA in APR?
Heck I will Jump in the lake myself if and when I get Brady through Finished. I am thinking of just moving up and running finished and using my Seasoned points toward that. Not sure if we are totally ready but I think we are pretty close. Something to shoot for any way. Gives you the motivation to keep training.
2BD Yes it was up at Smithville lake. We just started an HRC club in the KC area and we had our Inaugural test event. It was a lot of fun. We had 75 dogs Saturday and just a few less than that on sunday. Way more fun to participate in that AKC Hunt tests! I like it! |
