As collars go, what is considered to be the top of the line. I do a load of duck and goose hunting so it needs to be waterproof, but i do some, and intend to do more, upland hunting this season.

In my view Tri-tronic collars are hands-down the best collars on the market. They are easy to use, reliable and offer all of the functionality you need for either waterfowl or upland hunting.

Go with the the Tritronics G2 Flyway. its made for waterfowlers like you and me. I purchased it last fall and I would recommend it to anyone. Works every time. Avery sells carrying cases for the G2 series in camo and blaze and they clip right to your waders or lanyard. Hope I could help.

I started with a TriTronics Classic 70. After about a year I wanted something with greater functionality so I tried the TriTronics Pro500. I've used it at least a few days a week and haven't had one problem. You can get great stuff too , like a car charger, they make carrying cases like meantioned earlier. I don't like the wetlands model because the remote is lost if you put it down while in the woods.

I have a Tritronics Flyway Special that I used for ten years. Got a new battery about year ago. It will still be available for use when I get my next dog. Great product. I also bought the beeper because a yellow dog in tall grass was hard to keep track. Sometimes I thought I was watching the Ghost in the Darkness - the Lions of Salvo (sp).

I have the Tritronics Upland G2 EXP and love it. I've had Dogtra and Innotech collars in the past. In my opinion nothing comes close to the Tritronics in terms of consistent performance. I can't comment on the durability yet, but my friends who've used them for years say they outlast the competion by a mile. A nice feature of the Upland is that you can turn the beeper on and off remotely. I also like the locate feature and the long effective range.

I use Tritronics as well. Bought my first one 7 years ago. The battery eventually died last year. Mainly because I bought a new 2 dog version (Flyway) 3 years ago. So, when you don't use it, the battery eventually dies. I gave the old one to my friend, he sent it into Tritronics and got it totally rebuilt for about 1/3 of the price of a new one. All are going strong. They have made some new improvements (ahem, new since I bought my first one), they now include longer probes to reach through that dog hair better and an on/off button! Also charging method improved (trickle charge, connections easier, one charger can charge both collars).

I do hear good things about Dogtra as well. The Dogtra has a smaller transmitter you carry, thinking of going that route because saving that extra few onces, and size in the upland field may be worth it. Why a new one? Got a third pup, and my wife trains, so we both need a transmitter.

I hunt mainly upland, go after ducks once or twice a year, but do a lot of water training.

Never had a Tritronics fail, other than battery.
