01/30/2006 3:33 PM Alert
I was just thinkin' --- It's amazing what dogs can learn in such a short period of time.

Casey just turned 6 years old a couple weeks ago. We only train during the "off season" (when there's no hunting). I do enforce my standards during Hunting Season, but we do absolutely no training for those 5 months.
This means that Casey has only had some 25 to 30 months (maximum) of training in the last 5 years, and yet he got his MHR title last year, and he is a very impressive Hunting Dog (his primary purpose in life).
I think that just goes to show what an exceptional dog, with a barely adequate trainer and some excellent training books and advice will get ya.

Thanks to Black Forest Kennels, Julie and Paul Knutson (and to some extent Evan Graham, Mike Lardy and a few others)(didn't get into Graham and Lardy until later on in his training) for bringing Casey to somewhere near his true potential.
What a great ride it's been.  Dang, we sure love that dog.

.

Doc E and Cujo Casey boy.
