It's been almost two years since Amos ate four small child's gloves, three of them his body rejected through involutary body motion.  The fourth one got stuck in his intestines and had to be removed through surgery.  Starting last Thursday night he vomitted his supper, since then he hasn't wanted any thing to eat and very little to drink.  I just got off the phone with the vet, everything is pointing toward something in stomach or intestine again.  So he's going on IV's tonight and surgery in the morning.  On the light side of this, does anyone want to guess what is causing the blockage? i.e. ball, stick, nylabone, plastic wrapper, plastic sack, Tybaby.
Thanks for letting me vent, and any prayers that can be sent this way will surely be appreciated.

P.S.  Look around the house, kennel, and yard, if you see anything that might put your dog in danger, deal with it so you don't have any situations like this.

Doug, that just plain stinks!!! Sorry to hear about that. I hope you are doing well besides that. Have you got any idea what he might have gotten in to. What is it about labs that they have to eat everything in sight? You and your dog will be in our prayers tonight. I appreciate the warning and will take a good look around the house tonight.

12/22/2005 10:23 AM Alert

Well I got an early Christmas present today, the vet says that Amos can come home tonight when I get done with work.  The surgery went well, and he is eating soft foods already!

As to what it was.... I found out that last Wednesday (which was a "snow day, no school") that my daughter was playing with the dogs outside in the yard.  When she put them back in their kennel, she thought they were cold, so she gave each one of them a blanket.  That is where Amos tore his up, and ate some filler.  She saw the mess in the kennel and quickly hid the evidence.  She admitted that she put the blankets in, but she did not see Amos eat anything.  As we sat down and I explained to her that we cannot put things with the dogs without watching them or teaching them what they can do, big tears built up in her eyes.  She asked me if this means that she has to quit being a "junior dog trainer"?  It about floored me, I told her no she doesn't have to quit, but to learn that we both have to be more careful with our best friends.

Merry Christmas to everyone, and scratch your dog behind the ears for me.

Dog has ate something what do I do?

Got this from Pigeon when my dog swallowed some carpet.  I used about 3 tubes and two surenges of warm soapy water up the hole under the tail and we got it all out without surgery.  I am not sure what it is called but it is a tube of stuff that is like glue that you give to cats for hair balls.  It looks like a tube of tooth paste.  Give your dog the whole tube they love to eat it.  This will grease them up and hopefully get it moved out.

My four month old swollowed a sock that was tied in a not.  I gave him one tube of it and the next morning it was out.
