A Little story behind the first 2 photo's...We went to pick up one of Deke's pups for my wife's cousin and there were a few people picking up pups that wanted to see Deke work...The breeder owns a preserve upstate New York. He put out 3 birds...Anyway by the time we got everyone out the birds were gone...I said no worry if they are on the property Deke will find them...Deke ended up in a small ice water stream in the cattails..Yup he not only found the 3 but found a fourth and pointed 3 of the 4...The 4th one flushed as Deke was trailing it..

The last photo is of Deke and a Golden Eye which is headed to the wall...Really nice big and beautiful bird..

The last 2 days I brought friends out to hunt we got after them pretty good and the dogs were great...Bella went completely under water 3 times to get a Golden Eye and she came up with it by the tail feathers...I wish I got the whole sequence on film but it was a little rough out and I wanted to keep an eye on her. Today Deke had 13 retrieves and one Quadrupple retrieve and 2 were cripples..

Deke,  Buddy,  Do you ever work???????  I thought I had it made in my Government job.  I think when I retire I am going to have to come and apply at your place.   Do you think the Port Police there have any use for an old crusty B-52 Bombadier?  I am pretty good at Urban Renewal!

Just got back from a British Style Hunt where I was asked to run Deke for retrieving purposes. Well 95 retrieves Later he is curled up and out like a light..I have been asked to do another 8 by the end of February and he has already done 3. It looks like Deke will have somewhere around 1200 retrieves this year if this keeps up...He has the day off tomorrow. But Rocky is on Deck so we will be getting after them in the AM. Want to come Joe

Deke, you are just the only one hunting.  The rest of us have to work.

I plan on getting out this weekend and will take some pics whether we get anything or not.  Upland season ends here on the 15th, so not many more chances.

Of course then there are the preserves!

Joe
