To new and rejoining members:  it is time to renew or begin your annual APLA membership.  I believe this will shortly be available right on this website, but until that occurs, download the membership form and mail it to the following address with the appropriate payment.  Only memberships with payment will be processed for obvious reasons:

APLA Secretary
46988 County Road 42 1/2
Orchard, Colorado  80649

For those of you with questions or concerns, I encourage you to post those questions to me here as opposed to personal email, so that everyone with the same questions can benefit from yours!  I am much happier with public interaction and will respond on a timely basis.

Thanks!

I just 're-joined', after a couple year's absence. I like the new and improved direction that the APLA is taking.

IMHO it would be wise to send out renewal notices. Some members are probably much more casual as far as their involvement and frequency of visiting the web site. A one page snail mail letter with the sign up form on 1 side and some kind of a letter on the other will likely help keep some members. I know this from 1st hand experience in a local club. If the mailing brings in 2 or 3 members that may have not sent in dues otherwise it will have paid for itself. I guess some postage can be saved if this exercise is done around the end of the month and only mailed to folks that have not already signed up. Or if a newsletter ever does go out a sign up form can be included but of course that letter would have to go out to the past due members to be effective...

Well there are some good ideas! I will look into mailing old people who haven't renewed. Often people don't renew until they plan to enter their dogs in a test, but with the new stuff, maybe we'll get them going early. There will be a newsletter, and it will be out after the board has looked at it.

And, I am posting this as the official Super Important Always to be Taken Seriously APLA Secretary. For other stuff I will be Gunclub as before. And I will try to help people who ask for training stuff that way, keeping things separate.

Thanks!!!

APLA Official Super Important Always to be taken Seriously Secretary= excellent way to solve the dilema..."The check is in the Mail" to the Secretary.

And if you happen to see the Gunclub anywhere, let her know that we hope to be able reference her forum advise in the "book" (or Books as it soon will be) cuz the rest of us need to hear it more then once and in different ways for it to sink in...

Willie,
It will depend on when and where they are. ABSOLUTELY no events of ANY kind during Hunting Season (Sep 1 thru the end of Jan).
Casey will be running in the NAHRA Master Nationals this year (May in Colorado), so that may put a bit of a problem into traveling very far at other times (two weeks out of the office in May is going to kinda put the 'binks' on any more time out of the office).  We *might* even have time to stop by and see Paul & Julie (I hope).

Although I "kind of understand" the reasoning, I still don't like the idea of having to have a CP before you can run in the higher levels. I don't know of any other organizations that do this. Personally, I think you should be able to enter at whatever level you think your dog could run in.
Another thing that I think should be addressed is that dogs that are only UKC registered aren't recognized (can't run) in APLA events. I'll start another thread on that one.

Well Doc, there is a test in Colorado the last weekend in April, though it doesn't show on any list yet...so, perhaps you can run the big yellow dog there?

Dear APLA Sec'y, (or should it be APLA Sex'y),
That would mean at least 3 weeks out of the office at one time (impossible to do).

All - If I have received your 2006 membership dues, they will be in Julie's hands on Saturday. If I receive them after that, they will get to her in a timely fashion. Certificates went in the mail today and I know you have all been waiting patiently (I have been slammed with work and family issues that have taken a great deal of time and energy).

If you have questions about whether I have received a check from you, feel free to email me; I do not want to post that on a public forum. Unfortunately for Julie, I am up there almost every week to see my pup who is on Paul's truck, so she has to put up with me. But fortunately for you all, there will be a very smooth transition!

New Years regards,
Moira
