This is much better news than my post earlier in July.
Picked Remi up last night. He is just now starting to act like a puppy. He wasn't too sure about leaving the litter owners especially with all the noise from the highway nearby. Once away from them, he took to me pretty quick and hasn't wanted to leave my side. He slept through the night without any whimpering or barking and definitely likes to retrieve the bumper.
I took him to work with me today for him to stay in my office, so he's had plenty of company and is coming around with all the new people. I think he'll have a different personality than Bow had, but I guess all dogs have their own. He's 16 wks old tomorrow, older than I guess most get their pups, but it worked out this way and they have been spending time with him in the water and retrieving. They said he has been pointing in their yard (It's a field compared to my yard).
I'll start training with Julie's methods same as I did Bow, so I'm sure he'll be fine. I'm back to reading the puppy section several more times.
The few photos I can upload from work are from my camera phone and he wan't real exited about the photos when he first got in the car with me. I'll try to post better photos tonight or this weekend when we start our walks.

I read back to what happened to Bow ( I am kind of new here) and it's hart breaking.. But Remi sure is a looker, I have a big soft spot for the yellow dogs as my first lab is a yellow and Remi is beautiful!!! I can't imaging going through what you have in the last month as I have become attached to my new pup more than I thought one could with a darn dog. I swear my Grady knows what I am thinking when he looks at me .. My first (Bruce) and I have a connection but this one seems different.... Probably because I am spending much more time with Grady than I was able to with Bruce..
Here's to good times with Remi and great memories of Bow!!!

Zeke, the following are the Sire and Dam. I don't really know who to tell you he's from other than their names and a small amount of background.
Sire: Buck Son of Point Doctor Dam: Rosebud's Liberty Belle
Neither dog is titled that I'm aware of. Their owners are from central KS. My first dog, Bow, from the two was bought because I wanted a retriever. I liked the parents, liked the owners, and decided I would make the deposit. PL really didn't mean anything to me at the time, but I started to read, was told by someone on another forum (maybe Doc) that Julie's book was the PL owner's bible, so I ordered one. I used the info in there to work with Bow. I'm sure I made more errors than things I did correct, but Bow was coming around and did really well the first time I had him in birds and had an incredible desire to retrieve. I'm certain he could have progressed much faster with a real trainer than with myself, but I just wanted to shoot a few birds over him and enjoy watching him work. I was happy with Bow and went with another pup from them.
I say all that because I really know next to nothing about PL's other than what I read here, and I'm certain a lot of the pups shown on here come from well recognized titled parents. The only names I recognize are on the sire's side (Helm's and Kellog), and I really don't know much about that except for some of the Googling I did. The Dam's side is a mixture of names that mean zero to me.
If someone is interested, I'll scan and post their AKC sheets and you guys can tell me if there are any recognizable names there.
I'm haveing a lot of fun with the new pup right now. The above retrieving photo is from our walk today. The retrieves were a highlight for him. I did think I saw a flashpoint today (actually in the house), but I may just be seeing what I'm hoping for.
This guy does so many things to remind me of Bow, that it makes me laugh and feel sad all at the same time. Crazy how attached we get to these dogs. |

Hobbes - Great looking puppy. I too am partial to the big yellow dogs. From the size of those feet, he's gonna' do some growin'. I bet your family will love the new puppy. Remi must be short for Remington? Good luck with the training. I figure by the time I get my new pup in 2010, I'll have read Julie's book a number of times. Just finishing up the first time. I had the privledge of attending one of her seminars in Minnesota. I will definitely train using her methods. |
