This weekend we got our first two junior hunter passes. This is Duelly my 16 month old Rockstar X Dixie puppy. We also ran senior, we got through the first series with a handle on one mark. Then we closed up with a nice blind. Then we went onto the water marks, a double and blind by invitation. We threw the marks and had a no bird so we had to re run. I was worried about him remaining steady after so many marks, but we ran a again. He smacked the marks, and was invited onto the water blind and we ran into trouble. We got about 1/2 way to the blind and kept getting sucked into the old mark. So we picked up there and called it a day. We were so close, but did not want to loose all the training on one bird. We were the second youngest senior dog there so we felt we had a great day and alot of fun. We are running next weekend and hoping for two more junior passes and a senior pass. This week we are going to do more water blinds! Here is a picture of us and our junior ribbons!

Nice job guys! Congrats on the passes. I ran up at St. Cloud this last weekend. 3 full days I feel drained today. Double masters are very tiring on a guy.

Thanks for the help Troy!

Brad, I had dogs running all 3 days. From the Qual on Friday through Sunday night, makes for a long weekend.

Doc E, well to answer your question. More water blinds, with our winter here it has been hard to get into the water that much until the last month or so. He did swim-by last fall as a 9 month old dog, then we refreshed this spring and have been doing as much as we can. He is still really "green." He does decent water blinds, but this pond was only about 50 yards wide and narrowed as it went away, giving it a channel blind look. You had to swim along a shore to get the blind, and it was closer to the mark that most senior tests, it was tight, but do able. To answer your question, we are going to review back-burn-back on swim by. He does need much pressure to train, so I would put pressure on the land and lighter pressure in the water if the results are not what we need. Then throw some marks to pump him up a little, and come back with some sight blinds for a few days to get him going well. He is so young he just needs a little more confidence in himself, but at the same time, Back means Back! So we will see what happens, he is a nice dog that keeps himself together amazingly well at a test for his age. He is so level headed it is awesome, he is a huge pleaser, sometimes too much if you can believe that!

This weekend we are running in MN, running JH and Senior again, then we are going to work on getting ready for APLA this fall. I hope we get alot of tests this fall, it should be fun! Hope to get to some tests this fall!

Pigeon, we are pumped about this dog. Yeah, he ain't have bad looking either! We are hoping to run APLA this fall, I have never ran APLA before so I am excited to get out there and try it with a few dogs. I have ran field trials, and I can imagine it will be every bit as nerve racking if not more!

Everyone thanks for the encouraging words, we will keep him training and see some of you in the fall!
