| WOW what a WONDERfull name ZEKE has, and he sure lived up to it at Omega. I'm very happy for you Mike, your long journey (112) has paid off. Only met you and Zeke a week ago, and glad I did, but had alot a fun together. He sure ran good on all the series, and was especially fun to watch in the upland field. Looking forward to the fall test, and know you will be there too. Great job........... |

| Have to post again,as I just got home and saw the picture.Thanks for getting it on Rachel,and Dale.....That pic says it all!!!!You TEAM RUN AND GUN Dogs(aka,MM),pulled me through another tough day.Gave me reason to celebrate.Mike,as we've talked about,we have alot in common with our dog addiction,hope you enjoy that photo. Finally got to see your boy run the upland,and he was wonderful. By the way,his pal Gator is for sale,been offered $25.00,think I will hold out for a little more. MPR Zeke the Wonder Dog HRCH, now that has a nice ring to it!
The road to get here has been anything but easy, filled with really big highs and really big lows, but all worth it in the end. I have always known how good Zeke was, I just had to catch up in both my training and handling. In the test, Zeke stepped on all 4 of his marks, almost lined the 100 yard land blind, worked hard and ran big (as soon as I let him) in the uplands, was “super steady” on all of his points and to wing & shot, and really listened to me on the water blind. After a few “crash N burns”, it feels great to put it all together and to get Zeke the recognition he deserves and to show the world what he can do! Needless to say, I am proud of my Wonder Dog!
I must say this, the field of dogs which ran in the Masters Test was the best group of dogs I have ever had the privilege to run with, and I have run a lot of events (HRC Finished, Duck Dog Challenges, APLA). In the first retrieving land series, about 6 dogs either lined or almost lined the 100 yard blind (Diesel, Tig, Duke, Gator, Zeke, Mike from K&L) and it wasn’t an easy blind. Each and every dog in the upland “ran like the wind” and really put on a show, and the weather was almost 90 with high humidity. The Master water blind was run the previous weekend as an AKC Master Hunter blind, a channel blind, down and parallel to the shore (right side cattails) with strong suction to the left, not to mention a strong crosswind pushing dogs to the left the entire time. The land retrieving series had really high weeds & grass which made marking difficult.
Mike from K&L kennels had awesome dogs! Dale from Hunter Rose Kennels (HRK) has an unbelievable kennel of dogs (Diesel, Tig, and Duke). Those HRK dogs are just fun to watch in the uplands, giving “run & gun” new meaning! I now see what all the excitement over HRK is about, great trainers and handlers, and even better dogs! And Gator will always be near and dear to my heart, a truly amazing animal!
To the judges (Bruce, Wendell, Jeff & one more?), a big thank you as well. Great tests, great attitudes, and you guys just brought “Test Mania” to Michigan. Thank you!
To the Carts: Holly worked really hard to put together a great event. You have brought great energy to Michigan PLs and to the APLA! John, nice job running both Gauge and Banks. I see a big future for both of those dogs, and congrats on the APR title for Banks!
Julie: I truly believe that your seminar last March at Wendell’s place made all the difference for Zeke and I. I can’t tell you how much you helped Zeke and I in the uplands. I was not going to attend the seminar, and at the last minute, I change my mind and thank goodness I did. Thank you for the lessons learned, thank you for believing in us, and thank you for being such a role model in our sport! Thanks, thanks, thanks!
Kwick: It feels great! Zeke and I always appreciate your posts!
Bruce: That group in Roberts Ill at the CP field was a great beginning and a great group of dogs & owners. Thanks for bringing such positive energy to MI, and Cody looked great as our test dog!
Michigan Mafia: You guys are hilarious, the best! I have never known people and dogs for a shorter period of time, yet feel like I have known you forever! I consider you as my “brothers in the dog world!”
Duke & Mark: A 20 month old dog who put on a show, I mean a show! I have a long post on Duke’s thread coming up, but to say the least, Duke may be the best in the business. When I heard about an 18 month old dog getting his MPR, I couldn’t believe it. After running with Duke for the last two weekends, this dog is amazing! Birrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrds!
