Do you guys have your dogs chipped, tatoo'd or both?  Just wondering what I should do with mine since she doesn't come with any of that, but I was leaning towards a getting a chip.

Chips are great for identification and return to owner. Tatoos (inside the thigh) are a better deterent against theft.

I got Gunner microchipped as a pup. There easy to put in and there becoming big hits with vets, they all have the ID Remote. I think you can buy kits off the websites for doing it yourself for the kennel owners who put them in all there pups.

Get a microchip! Most vets have readers that will accommodate all chips.

The US uses a different frequency microchip than the rest of the world-124 instead of 132, or something. Many scanners in the US will not even recognize that there is a higher frequency chip-some will "see" it but not be able to read the number. Because we are in Canada so often, my dog has two chips, one of each type. Something to be aware of...

My Vet mentioned that there were two different frequencies for chips.  He said Banfield ended up having to re-chip several dogs because they were using the european chips instead of the US chips.  I guess that is resolved now though.
