Hey everyone!! This is just one of those questions that im interested in aswell as a few other members. I would like to know what everyones favorite color choice is in a lab(chocolate, black, or yellow)and is there any specific reason? There is no right or wrong answer. I just wanted to get to know everyone a little bit more. Thanks!!!

I have (had) 2 yellows and 1 black...when I'm out in South Dakota or guiding around here..I've had huge issues seeing...finding my yellows..they seem to blend in with what ever cover we are hunting...I've resorted to putting bells on the yellows...I can see the black one... never hunted behind a choco...

I like darker yellow. The main reason is that I feel like I can see their eyes and facial expressions better.

I have two yellows and 4 blacks. I was always partial to yellow, but I have to admit that the black dogs are much easier to keep track of in the uplands...

BROWN!!!

I refuse to use "chocolate" anymore.  A nice field dog that happens to be lighter than black and darker than yellow to me is "brown".

Seriously though, with all the crap that brown dogs get there are some very real advantages to their color in the hunt.

They are dark enough that you do not loose them in the light grass when upland hunting like you do yellows.  Secondly, on waterfowl, the lighter brown blends in to more backgrounds than yellow or black.  I often sit my boy in fairly open areas when goose hunting with just a camo vest on and he blends in very well.

Versatile color for a versatile dog

Black was definately my favorite in terms of looks. Got a yellow because thats how the litter fell. As in most things, more the temperment/personality that matters than the color, but in my totally biased opinion, my yellow is a good looking dog.

My wife also likes Chocolate and Yellow.  We pick up a very light (almost white) yellow tomorrow.  All labs are pretty though.

I think my boy is handsome-a nice dark yellow. But if I was picking for color, I'd choose black.

Silver of course....... ;-)
I have two yellows and a black. I don't care what the color is, I go for the breeding and color is secondary.

Lord may I be half the man that my dogs think that I am!

Great responses everyone. I especially liked the one about the color of beer and of course the color green in the last one. Im partial to them all but i got a soft spot for a really dark yellow or fox red. Oh and of course the green ones, but i like those little green demons (green winged teal).

I don't care if that PL is pink with purple polka dots as long as it's an awesome dog! Color is the very last thing on my mind when looking for the right pup. JMO!

I thought black was the only color?

Seriously, I have no real prefrence and think that good dogs come in all colors. My fiancee wants to get a choco and a yellow so we can represent all the "nations."

Black without a doubt. The gene pool is larger and you will get a better chance of getting a good dog.
