Well, it's time for me to upgrade my dog box on my truck. I currently have a two dog box set up, but with 6 dogs, I need to expand my dog hauling capabilities. I've looked at the 'Pro Series box' by Creative Sports Supply and I like the configuration. They told me they could create a 5 dog set up (3 boxes across the top and two on the bottom) with the same look, but the two bottom boxes would only be 19" tall or so (too short for my ideal). The other option would be a topper setup. My truck is a long bed so I'm thinking I could get about 8 boxes (more than I need, but with room to grow). I like the idea of a topper giving me back my truck bed (underneath the box) for dry storage. However, it would be quite a bit more money for that setup. What do some of you use and what are some of the pros/cons with each type of set up? Rob

Have you thought about a dog trailer? Using a trailer gives you tons of storage, nice large boxes for the dogs and leaves your truck bed completely free. I about killed my husband when he bought it, but now I thinks it's great. We have both a 2 dog box with top storage for the truck and the trailer and it's turning out to be way easier to use the trailer as you're not always climbing on your tailgate to get to the top storage in the box and you can haul TONS of extra stuff in the trailer. We are the Northwest distributor for K-9 Koach by Windsong and can send you information if you wish. We also have dog boxes (single and double). I just threw some pics on our website if you want to look. Info's not complete yet but I can send brochures. www.stkpointers.com

I have thought about a trailer, but I don't think I want to pull a trailer everywhere I need to go (hunting/testing).

Kevin, I have seen your topper and I've wondered about getting the dogs in and out of a topper without wear and tear to the side of my truck. With the 5 dog set up, each box would open into the bed of my truck (no loading dogs from the side, but it would require me getting into the bed each time I load and unload a dog). Do your dogs use some sort of loading aide (i.e. ramp), do they jump up on their own or do you have to lift them up?
