Let me tell ya-At the Ribbon presentation-An Ol' boy with a pony tail that judged CPR A where Lindell ran his 'pack' just had to announce that one of John's other dogs- 'Rattler' was the 1st one he saw in all his years of working and judging the events that got a PERFECT score in CPR- And this guy like me calls them CP, not cpr-so he seen some. Last year I worked cp with John-he was the planter. I heard someone ask him why he was not running his dogs-he said they probably weren't quite ready. Truely an understated gentleman this Lindell guy is. Wish he was bringing them to Mo this week-but knowing John he will probably just wait till next year in Co and blow away the master field.

Congratulations to all that ran. You know, there are a lot of great people in this PL community that "fly under the radar" so to speak. If you hang around the tests long enough, you start to realize the quality of trainers and dogs that nodbody seems to talk about. I planted birds with John last spring and he's the kind of guy that you can learn an awful lot from (if you just shut up and listen). It's nice to hear good things about good people!
The pass rate for this test (especially CPR) seems quite low...was weather a major factor or were there other things in play?

I am hoping they will post results from the event. The only dog that I personally know that John ran was Dyna. How very cool to hear about Rattler. John must be proud. He is a great guy. I enjoy talking with John and have learned a lot in our conversations.

Rob- It seemed like a normal pass rate to me. A lot of the CP's that Failed That I gunned for were just not about to point at birds-They did do just fine locating and catching them though! In General the Wind adds 'excitement' to the dog which may not be good for some. The wind also will cause a few birds to get up and start struttin around-this adds even more excitement.

I will post results of CPR A tomorrow as I do not have my book. The conditions were difficult but they were difficult for all. Some dogs were very impressive and some need just a little more time. Terry and I had little difficulty judging Rattler, a remarkable display of natural ability! With the number of dogs running, thanks should go to Vic Rompa for a very organized event and all the volunteers that are always necessary. Personally, I would like to thank Terry Thompson (it was a pleasure walking that field 24 times with you); gunners Randy Swenson, Randy Burns, Tom Peckman and Steve Pawlyshns (I wish I could shoot like you); planter Mike Wentworth who appeared to make friends with all the birds; and especially to marshal Shannon Gefroh for always having a dog ready to run. Sounds a bit like an Oscar speech but the volunteers make the event happen!

Forgot the CPR judge of the future Jim Cook (a/k/a Tom) who apprenticed and also spent all day watching each dog in the field.

I had a great time out there in the wind/snow/rain and even some sun in the afternoon! What a great bunch of people and dogs to be around for the day. Made it a lot of fun! Thanks for putting on such a great event!
