And to think I was whinning about snow flurries this morning - you have 8 inches and more on the  way!   They are forecasting overnight temperatures between 29 and 31 for a good part of Nebraska, it will probably colder than that along the South Dakota and Nebraska border.  Last time I looked May 1st was only 6 days away, good thing most of what I planted is not up yet.

Snow has let up some. Found a bird to work the dogs. Pictures were taken out the window. Hes about 20 yards from my house. Hard to tell but you can see his tail is pretty iced up.

Pheasants will start to nest in mid to late April. If they have already nested, they will renest again.

Clear Blue skies in South Dakota.......currently 28 degrees shooting for a high of 46.

Prime nesting is usually about the time alfalfa is being mowed. What a slaughter at times. I'm sure this has killed a vew birds also. As for total population it wont have a huge bearing there were lots of birds left. The cover will defonately be beat down now. One good thing is that low grounds will fill up before the birds nest in them. I think the turkeys are starting to set not sure about geese but the ducks were close to being ready to sit.
