Merry Christmas to everyone reading the new and extremely improved APLA forum!  As of January 1st, I am the secretary on the APLA Board, and as such, cannot use this forum in any form to promote book information or even training information.  And it would appear I am persona non grata on the old forum as I cannot post under my own name and any related posts get deleted.  So I need to let any interested folks know that it would appear forums are no longer available to ask questions related to following the training program,  please email me personally if there is some confusion or I can be of help. I hate to loose that contact that has been available for years, but this isn't the place.

Keep training, keep asking questions and Paul and I personally wish each of you the best of the Holidays and the healthiest, warmest and most fulfulling New Year!

Huh?      I can understand you not wanting to give the wrong impression by promoting the book over here (dont worry we non board members will promote it for you if we like it)  but I would think there would be no problem giving training advice as long as you were just giving your opinion and not "promoting" anything.   That is my humble opinion anyway.

To me just because you are a board member should not mean you cant give training advice  or answer questions if you are asked them.  That is what a forum is for, sharing information and asking and answering questions.   There is a difference between you coming on the forum and posting how great your new book is and that we should all buy it or else and some one asking your opinion or clarification on how to interpret what you wrote.   Evan G is all over lots of forums and does not overtly promote his training plan but does give advice and clarification when asked which is very helpful.  To me that is expected and condoned.

Heck, I give advice on this and other forums all the time and I dont even know what I am talking about.     To lose some one with your experience would be a dang shame.  I hope you will re-consider.

All the above is IMHO!

I let this go for a day to let my mind clear a bit. When you're 65, being too spontaneous can be a huge problem.

This is not right!

As the newest, almost member of the APLA...Ive tried to find in the by laws (terms of use) where Julie cannt post or answer questions......and I cannt find anything...

I personally feel she should be able to...and I'm sure many others do....I cannt believe that just because she is the seceratary now....that anything else should change....

One of the major reasons I'm becoming a member of the APLA...is that its an orginization of people in the know....who are willing to help us who dont know....they dont do it for profit....or cudo's...they do it because they've been there....and done that....

Stu, I did the same thing, but went into it thinking there would be nothing to preclude "Gunclub", the secretary/pro trainer/author, from posting up on this site. However, given the past perceptions of some that agendas are prevelant among APLA officers (an ###umption which I've always thought was way over the top) and appreciating "Gunclub's (Julie's) very high ethical standards,  I'm  just ###umming (in my own mind) that it is more of a strong personal choice rather than some APLA forum rule.  Again, I'm just ###umming, and I've been wrong once or twice.

As for the "other" forum...I repeat "That's just not right!"

Edit: I think it might be safe to ###ume that the edit fuction of this forum needs to be fine tuned.

Jim,   I assumed that you would know that you could not post stuff like that here.

You can also assume that I have fixed it.

Thanks for the concern, no one on the APLA has said a word about my position on posting or anything. This is just me.  I am in a delicate position because I run dogs in large number in the APLA tests, I train dogs and now I am on the board of the APLA.  It would be easy to word things just so, or state things to direct attention to the book or my training, since that is what I do for a living, all day every day. As a board member, I want people to know that the APLA and its role for people is more important to me than taking advantage of my position in any way, even if only in someone's perception.

The way things are being run on the "New and Improved", 'pointinglabs.com' site, I will no longer be posting there.
I understand that it is a privately owned site, and Mr. Greer can therefore run it as he sees fit, but personally, I really don't like hard handed dictators.
And now that it seems to me that the APLA is certainly going in the right direction, I have just renewed my membership.

I just noticed (on the other site) that the post by Kwick (where he showed his printed out and bound Section One of the new Knutson book) also got deleted.

I agree with Julie's thinking of advertising the book, and feel that this is a very professional approach that should be commended. However, I do not agree with the thought of not giving out training advice. If the goal of the APLA is to help promote PL's, then giving training advice should be one of it's top positions no matter who you are in the APLA. Seeing that this is the case, then I guess that I'll take advice from Doc as well since he is now a member.

Keep posting advice Julie, we still want it!

Jay,
Did you notice that my post that "I would no longer be posting" at pointinglabs.com, (and your reply) have already been deleted.

Doc- I was gonna mention that your fairwell post was already gone...but i see that you caught that already.

Anyway- We will certainly miss Julie's advise. I wish now that I had printed out many of her old posts.

Julie- I am really wondering what is more valuable to the PL community- Your helpful posts or your efforts as Secretary?
Although I am sure that you will be a great secretary I would rather see your posts if I had to choose one over the other.

Doc, just for the record, I deleted all my posts on that thread.  It seemed things were going south and I didn't feel the topic (which was upbeat and informative) deserved being turned into a forum policy issue. I'm sure my deletes created some continuity problems within the thread. Further editing was done and the thread was terminated with a moderator's comment.

That particular thread fiasco caused me to re-evaluate posting in general on all the forums I visit.  Presently there is a sign on my computer which reads "No More Posts!". However, it is not permanently mounted.

Yeah I noticed that! I didn't figure that it would take that long. I actually went ahead and copied your post just in case I needed it later. I'll probably stick it out, or get kicked out, just trying to be nice. ;D

I didn't see what Kwick's post turned into, but it's sad when a new beginning turns into a bad ending.

Kwick, don't be that way. Take down the post-it.

Isn't it strang that we are now bad talking the PL site on the APLA forum? I'm liking this progress!!! Well done Joe and Rion! And the board as well!

Jay
