| Whoa Nelly. Instead of emailing me the changes, I'm going to ask those of you with changes/additions to post them right here. That way they are all in one place and I don't loose complete track of everything. I HAVE to get certificates mailed this week, so this will have to sit tight for a bit, but I don't want to loose any important information.
this will get better. If you knew what this took... well, never mind. Just bear with us for a while as we get this to a meaningful condition. And I'll take all the credit, but just know I'm washing Sandy's care every week for a decade....

I submitted Taffey as just one of the many in the Limecreek DB that are missing. That's a lot of info to list here for each one. In addition, one can't depend on the assumption that all the "missing dogs" will eventually check in.
Use my post as an example of what will be coming (an avalanche). Will this be efficient on the other end?
After the "Limecreek dogs" are added, it might be more orderly to request a Word Document form which could be filled in by anyone desiring to add to the APLA database. The large initial volume could be handled by volunteers checking for validity. Since the info would be in a Word format, those "approved" could be easily inserted (an assumption on my part) into the database (once verified, screened, filtered......whatever).
Wow, what a job this is going to be! Fortunately, the difficult part is over......getting started.  |

| Joe-Now that it is understood that the lime creek data is yet to be transferred I am with Jim all the way. And since that reduces the # of corrections by hundreds i doubt the flood of emails or forms will really be that bad but do volunteer to help. Also we should then not invite additions via that system until the rest of the anticipated data is enterred, just inputs for corrections to already enterred data would be appropriate at this time. |

The new data base is not as complete as everyone would like...thats obvious..trying to integrate two differnt worlds into a common factor is not always easy....we have the old Lime Creek Data base which we can verify some but not all of the data...and the new APLA DATA BASE (which we know is accurate and up to date)thanks to Julie, and Sandy.
This is a work in motion...when I first got to see this a few weeks ago I noticed dogs like "raider" "grits" and "cajun" werent listed...they werent listed because they couldnt be verified as acurate information on the data base...not because they were forgotten...so keep sending your "polite" requests in to update the data base and It will someday in the near future be everything you want out of the APLA data base |

I would be very happy to help, too. Seems like getting the Lime Creek dogs verified is the next step-can I work on that?
Or, if the records to verify the information don't exist, then maybe we should decide on some criteria to "grandfather" them in, with a notation in the database? |

I certainly appreciate the effort in getting the info to this point and I can see Steve's point that maybe the Lime Creek database issues should be delt with separately from changes to this data.
Like Steve, Marlana, and others, I would definitly be willing and available to assist in whatever way to verify or merge these. Not sure if it is feasible to outsource any of this but if people have access to a scanner, then original documents could be kept secure with the Secretary while the workload is spread out.
Just an offer. If it is not practical, I understand. |
