Nice post, and I know a bit about that kinda ? Fate ( also a bit about the rest of the story ).

My last post had less to do with male vs female in choice of dogs, in fact nothing about that. I was trying for a little humor. Guess I missed again, swing and a miss.( HINT; THERE IS DOUBLE MEANING TO WHAT I STATED)
But I'm off topic ,and this site needs to stay staunch, and to the point.

Don't worry about it, Frank, I caught the double entendre just fine just chose to reply as I did. I'm getting old and cranky and frustrated and feeble minded and disgusted and sentimental etc.

Ya, let's just keep it on the straight and narrow.

Jere, you didn't stand a chance with that pup with the blue collar. He knew good and well you were going to the top of the mountain together, then half way across the country and back several times in pursuit of game as a team!

Old and cranky and frustrated yup,  feeble minded, no way dude, I can understand your frustrations..... You have all the reasons in the world to be Sentimental! Storm is a champion, you can see it in his eyes and the way he points his birds. High on both ends standing tall like the champion he is.

Piper, take Julie's advice and get that pup on some birds he can't catch. Like she said it isn't rocket science...I assume you plan on hunting this pup. Take him where you'll be hunting him and let him figure out how to find birds. The chicks are big enough now he can't catch them and the groups put off pretty decent scent. It'll do you both a world of good. Developing that team work, learning where the birds are and maybe even knocking on a few doors for new places to hunt. Get up in the middle of the night if necessary and have that pup on the ground at first light. A little dew on the grass, the birds to serenade you and fresh scent for your pup!

I've worn out more than a few trucks getting young pups started on wild birds. There's no replacing em and the extra effort will payoff with huge rewards down the road. Turn that pup into a predator before you hand him off to a trainer....control, what's that? Plenty of time to apply the brakes down the road....
