There are none yet but a few guys are trying to start things rolling. Get your contact information into the membership directory for the southwest. Don't be afraid to give one of those folks listed a call. I know that some are really wanting to hear from others with the same interest. I am sure that some would be pleased to take you on a hunt if it can be arranged. Click on the forum button above and you'll find it in the members only section.
There are several pointing lab owners in CA but they are spread out a bit geographically. It is a big state. We need them to find each other. Until they find enough people interested to get an APLA event together, I would suggest that you try to get together with other PL owners at other venues. The HRC, AKC, and NAHRA all run hunt tests in CA. An important first step to getting pointing labs established anywhere is building friendships between those brave souls that have chosen to take the road less traveled.
Even more important is for those folks that have good pointing labs to hunt them! (hmmm, something about pots and kettles applies here). Take people with you. Seeing is believing and once people have seen, some will want a PL pup themselves. That is the key to generate the numbers of PL's that it takes to get an event going.
Don't be afraid to get a pointing lab pup even if it takes a while to get PL events going in CA. These dogs are tremendously fun to hunt with. Dogs don't know anything about titles, they only want to hunt!
