I had taped the first encounter with pen birds for the year this past Feb. I finally figured out how to put the clips together for Cruz then got the date wrong on the title. It was hard enough to carry a camera and a shotgun around and find the dog during that session It is a little shakey but does about 7 min of upland work with Cruz, 5 bird contacts, re-contacts, SWSF, and an unexpected honor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_zHtjKWGVUZeke - I finally got them pulled together. Not your quality but I needed to force myself to learn to at least pull some clips together and edit out the dog taking a doog. I got the "Lid-Cam" for Christmas (camera that fits under the bill of your cap) so maybe I can get some video this spring at tests. |

Havn't been on here for a while but happened to pop in and see this. I will say from someone checking out the PL thing that this kind of thing is exactly what I wanted to see. Bruce - this is what I was looking for last summer. And you are correct, he does NOT quarter like a flusher. I like the re-point of the bird you shot earlier. Never thought a lab would do that. The dog that came in on your first point doesnt really look like a brittany - and it points - maybe a french brittany? Hard to guess on camera but he seems to be well off the birds.
Good stuff all the way around. You guys should really get some of this stuff out there. Neat to see the pups as well as the finished dogs. Goes a long way to answering my questions. |

I may be biased, and I know some of you have seen this before but I also think it would be good to show some videos of our talented young pups. If they have the skills as puppies then it is natural ability and no one can argue that they were "taught to stand game." So, here is one of Mr. Hoosier at 14 weeks locked up for god knows how long on that quail. Want to talk about natural ability. Pretty hard to "whoa train" or teach to "Stand game" to a 14 week old that isn't even completely housebroken yet!

I have been wishing I could find a Steadicam that was reasonable in price. Most of the video I see, even with the Go-Pros, has the bouncing as you walk. I found an Ad for a Stedicam set up for the iPhone 4...

I found it online for $150... Maybe I'll break down buy it and try it out. The only down side to this setup is you won't be able to film and shoot the gun.
Has anyone have one of these or played with one???

Havent had any steadycam experience but have seen some neat stuff from some of the video glasses. Not sure how many types there are but I do know some dont seem to work as good as others. Could be operator error. |

A 6.5 week old PL showing her point very early.
She was already doing this for 30 minutes when we remembered we had a video camera!
Her off-video points were actually longer, but she maintained her interest for a very long time.
