I am sure that the list of approved fall APLA hunt test venues and minutes from the 6/17 board meeting will be posted soon, but wanted to let everyone know that the Great Lakes Pointing Lab Club (GLPLC) will host a  Michigan Test September 12th and 13th.  Location will be on private grounds near Adrian Michigan.  Adrian is about 20 miles south of Ann Arbor/Jackson, and 20 min from Dundee (Cabelas).  That area is conveniently located near the IN, MI, and OH borders.

Planned stakes are CP, MPR on 9/12, and CP, APR, MPR on 9/13.  Food provided on grounds by GLPLC, lots of lodging options in Adrian.  We are very happy about these grounds which conist of 350 acres of CRP and 4 ponds at our disposal.  This should allow judges to run each test level (land, water, upland) in one location without moving.

This is the first event "sponsored" by our newly formed Geat Lakes Pointing Lab Club (GLPLC) and we look forward to having a great test.

A great event for sure! I am excited to see the new grounds and helping out to make sure this test runs smooth.

  Thanks for posting Bruce...

"Jr's" due date is 9-9-09. I have been told that divorces are not cheap, so probably should not drive ten hours to a hunt test that weekend..... Have fun without me.

But thanks for posting bruce.

Oh come on Fritz, who wears the pants in the family anyway?

Just kidding, didn't know your wife was expecting, congratulations and I hope all goes well for you two and the baby. Heck we would probably just steal your chair again and not give it back. You have to watch that, I personally have lost at least 3 decent chairs that were inadvertently donated to the APLA.

Rocky is working on some group discounts at Adrian hotels and several people from the GLPLC are planning food for the weekend. We should have a recon mission soon on the best hotel for dogs but I think Rocky is already set with a discount from the Super 8 and he informs me it is near several bars.
We will post up the hotel discount opportunities soon.

Starting to get some feedback about people coming up. We are looking forward to having a nice test and a great time.

Actually LeRoy two have been announced. Sean Isaac announced the approved Fall Washington test in a different thread. I understand that the process is underway to post the entire approved list either separately or via the posting of the 6/17 BOD minutes which I would hope to be soon. Like the WA folks we just decided to announce our MI test so that people could start planning.

Hope we can twist your arm into coming out here LeRoy, I understand Brad and Troy are planning to come over.

I hope all those first timers, who are thinking of trying out an APLA test will come on out and give it a try.
I can tell you that a chance meeting at an HRC test with a couple of guys, got me interested.
At that time,I thought to myself that "yes" my dog definately points,he is pretty good in the retrieving end and the upland(with the required kennel blindness of course). The guys I had met asked me if I wanted to go do an APLA test in KY.? I thought "man that's a long ways",but they got me interested, and a couple weeks later,we were in a truck, full of dogs, heading to a scary(for me)new adventure(I could not do bad here,I had pressure I put on myself).
It was a good move,to say the least.
We have since formed a pretty good bond/friendship,and that's just a part of where these dogs can steer you if you let them.
I have gone more miles than I had ever planned,and don't regret any of it....Where there's a will there's a way!

I've traveled to IL.,MO.,IOWA,KY.,WI.,and of course MI....AND HAVE MET GOOD PEOPLE AT ALL THOSE PLACES,that have the passion for the dogs.
So those thinking about it,and especially those that think they may do it next year.Let me tell you this, these dogs aren't going to be with you forever, grab the time you have, and have some fun....

Ditto Paco. Tim and Charity convinced me to run my first PL at an IL test close to me and I had a great experience there. Wonderful people, lots of support, great venue for first time handlers.

Scott, we had close to 20 people show up at our hunt and first meeting in early spring plus there were several interested that could not make that weekend. All of those folks should be at the test and many club memebers will be very actively involved in putting the test on. Vast majority of that involvement is from Michigan right now but we hope to get some more OH, IN, and other areas involved as we move forward.

Hey fellows, been working a bunch and have not been on here in a while. Sounds like we are going to have a good number of dogs. I am the secretary for the first time so please go easy on me when I screw up. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and of course having a few cold pops. So get those entries coming.
