Well, Sammie finally got a taste of goose. Hunting in Central Jersey our goose season is just really getting started. We did most of our hunting without her, because I was not sure how she would react and didn't want to mess it up for the other guys. With limit of 12 just about in hand we put Sammie to work. One goose down, about a 16 pounder, and off she goes. Sammie is use to ducks and pheasants but this goose surprised her. She tried to pick it up but could not figure it our, so she drug it back, quite a challenge since it was very much alive and did not want to be on the ground. With wings beating and head pecking the goose was subdued and Sammie had her first goose retrieve, not the classic retrieve but got it in any way. Thanks Leroy for a great, determined (sometimes hard headed) dog and thanks Julie for some great training.

If that goose weighed 16 pounds, it would have been worth about $1000 in decoys a few weeks ago.
