When hunting linear cover with more than two people, drop the dogs off with a handler, drive both cars back to the other end, drop one off and drive the other back to do the hunt. When you finish two miles in one direction, it sure makes "going back" a lot easier.
When hunting a large section of upland cover, plan to hunt in kind of a figure eight..allowing for dogs to make deviations. This accomplishes a few goals 1) pushed birds get doubled back on, 2) it is usually something new to most educated birds and 3) you return to where you started without retracing your steps. Smaller figure eights and spiraling routes are effective at times, too.
Buy a pheasant call. With a little practice you can reproduce a "locating" sqauwk or startle a tight sitting rooster with a flushing cackle. Additionally, it is funny to watch the reaction of someone who doesn't know about it. Be ready to duck.
