I want to go to Kansas to hunt public lands for pheasant and quail, where should I go? Doc and I are sick of dove hunting.

Rush,
kevin is pretty accurate for being out of state. If you draw a line straight north from Topeka (75 hwy) is really the eastern boundry. There are some pheasants in ne ks, but they are pretty thin. If you can get west of Manhattan, KS not NY you will do even better. Good luck.

I certainly want to go where the birds are according to the KDWP web site that should be the north eastern and north central portions of region 3 and the western and north western portions of region 4. Any pointers?

The spots you referenced are the "hot spots" where most people focus and you should do well there. You might pm 2Blackdogs as I know he hunts a lot of walk in. You might also look at the north central portion of region 1 up on the NE border.

I spoke to a state biologist in Dodge City yesterday, he said this year in portions of west central should be the best hunting in 60 years.
