After several days of 70 degree temps and lots of scouting we finally found where a few of the mallards were hanging out in central Iowa. The two of us managed 5 drake mallards and if you look close.....the middle drake has some jewelry on! It's been a long time since we took a drake with a band....very surprised. We weren't sure who nailed him so I told my buddy "Klinkerdinker" the camera man that he could have it.  He proceeded to tell me that I should keep it 'cause I found the spot for the hunt. The only logical thing for us to do was to flip for it......he lost! Then I told him that he should keep it because he has taken allot of hunting pictures for us on his new digital camera and it's a good trade for me! All ducks were retrieved by one of my dogs pictured below "CPR SR Raccoon Rivers Smokin' Cooper JH.....a son of Goose Creeks Holy Smoke. Cold weather is moving in for this weekend...hope it brings some fresh birds!!
