Ok I bought the must have PL book, now are there any video's DVD's on training the PL.  Or maybe just the best retriever training video.  Thanks for helping a rookie.

The Evan Graham books and DVD's are the best in my opinion. Some people like Lardy but I don't think I'm smart enough to understand him.

I have the Retreiver Fever series, Wolters Water Dog and Gun Dog, Danny Farmer and several other videos and the complete library of Evan Graham.  Bar none the Evan Graham videos are the most complete and easy to follow of them all for retreiver training videos.  George Hickcox gets my vote for pointing training although my pointing video library is a little thin so I would welcom suggestions.

They're here. Well very close. I have been one of the fortunate few that have viewed the set of DVD's produced by Poudre River Gun Dogs. The first is a set of 3 DVD's. Everything is in there I.E puppy stuff, first marks, intro to gun, obedience, force fetch, and my favorite land / water marks and upland training. CHECK THIS OUT. This is the real thing. Very cool.
Good job Gary.

I've been in the Pointing Lab game for 10 years.  I met Gary Buys  (Poudre River Gun Dogs, PRG) through this site. At the time he directed me to a very good PL litter  and convinced me to get into this.  I have read all the PL Bibles, Tips, etc., and I can honestly say that Gary's approach to training these dogs is very refreshing. It's an approach that keeps things very positive and the dogs really want to work for him.  His unique approach is well articulated and cleary shown in his new DVD Training Series which is available through his website poudrerivergundogs.com.  If you want to do this right, there are no real shortcuts, but this  NEW training series is loaded with the "meat and potatoes" you need to get the true potential out of your PL.    Currently training another PRG PL Pup ( Layla) out of Lexy, and at 5 months she's doing fantastic.  Why not learn from one of the best? Gary Buys is a humble, quality guy, that has commited himself to the improvement of this breed.  There's not alot a fluff and glitz around Gary's approach, just great information resulting from his many years of hands on experience that he unselfishly shares in this training serires.

My Best,

Well now, that should give a moderator a headache.

Gary, I applaud you for getting DVD's out. I would love to see them myself.

Dave that is quite a post for your first time on the forum. Glad you are excited about the DVD's.

If it's not to much trouble could you post a picture of layla or email one. My dog is Layla's Dad and I would really like to see her. PM me for an email address.

Thanks,

Althought this is just my 2nd post,  I was regularly involved on this site for many years prior to now, and I have met some great PL people that have been very helpful and informative to me when I was a PL newbie. Gary Buys, Brenda and Dale Merrit Thank you.

After reading some of the previous threads here, it is now very apparent to me that there is a new "content policy" and culture here that I completely jumped over with cavalier disregard to..For that, I apologize...  What can I say, the only time my foot is not in my mouth is when I'm changing feet.  .

All that said, please know that the opinions I expressed about Gary's Training Series DVD's are truly mine, no one elses.  I am not getting paid on commission of sales or otherwise. Without coming out and saying what I said, in the manner that I did, I don't know how anyone would specifically know about this new DVD Training Series. Simply put,  my intentions were to let this "Training Forum" know that I found another training resource that maybe of value to them.  Collectively, when we share items like this, doesn't make us better as a whole?  Or do we have to be so "politically" (or policy) correct that we can't even use first person english?  I have probably said enough, but at the end of the day  please know that I respect all of you for the love and dedication all of you have for these dogs and the improvement of this great breed. I am just not in alignment with this new Forum Content Policy, for whatever that is worth..

I traded emails with him today.
He is waiting on labels, then he will be able to sell them.
Perfect timing for me.
