Doc wrote..."3. Most Vet schols offer less than 15 hours of classroom time in nutrition, and many of those "classes" are sponsored by and put on by dog food companies.
I am a Diplomate in Clinical Nutrition (300 classroom hours).

I genuinely respect your training. But A) how many of those 300 hours were specific to CANINE nutrition and B) how many hours in the aggregate do you estimate that Drs. Foster and Smith and their staff of a half dozen or more vets from many of the best vet schools on earth, have taken in their DVM studies INCLUDING elective courses AND required "continuing education" studies? A "bunch" is my estimate.

I'm not here to promote or defend any particular company so enough said from me on that topic. But it seems we have AGREED on the benefits of Omega 3 supplementation..which was my entire point before this thread went off on a tangent. The product you give your dog is labeled as "pharmaceutical grade" which is GREAT but at a cost of nearly quadruple the price of the F&S product which is labeled as being free of PCBs and below the measurable levels of mercury (a particularly important point when it comes to fish).

GOOD LUCK on your hunting trip!

Best,
Jim

1. Many -- Many of the studies are "comparative nutrition"  (like comparative anatomy) that's why most studies are done on animals. Only if there is a difference are the studies actually done on humans.  The original studies on glucosamine were done on horses -- only later were studies done on dogs and humans -- and the results were extremely similar.

2. I don't know, nor do they say on their website --- but  I'd still like to know why Drs F&S use artificial colors and artificial flavors. I've never heard of
animals getting sick from a deficiency in either one. I wonder where they learned this ?

3. Quadruple ? ? ? 8 oz liquid of mine costs $72 --------- Is 8 oz of F&S only $16 ? ? ?

4. We had a fun weekend. If I have time, I'll put up a short story and a pic later.
