Scenting conditions were very tough for the CPR dogs yesterday. The dogs that passed deserved it.........to those that didn't don't feel bad or give up. It wasn't ideal for young dogs to find birds.

Special Congrats to MPR TDK's Sauk Dakota Juiced Thunder N Lightning THOR!! This made my birthday....... Nice work Brad and Congrats John.

Another Special Congrats to MPR Bo Knows High Caliber.......... Nice work Brad and Congrats Andy.

Every now and then when working these tests you experience something that well ya just couldn't even make up! One of these occured during the run of the last MPR A dog in the upland while Mike Lettau of K & L was running Jeff Ports dog "Boudey". Boudey was putting in a nice run with three birds in the bag already. As mike turned with the dog he saw a chuckar that was standing out in the open so swung around to avoid bumping into it. As the dog swung around it noticed a the grass move right in front of it and gave interest and I saw a big black snake darting away. Just then Boudey locked up - he was looking towards the snake but had winded the bird and established point. I was gunning and said "SNAKE!". All the judges and handlers say "SNAKE?!" So I swing around the dog to approach the chukar to flush it as in hunkered down- Well the snake squirted out again in front of me and hit the chukar sending it into the air-I shot the bird and it fell just past a two track path into cover. So the judges call 'dog' and Mike sends Boudey to retreive but as he gets half way to the fall he locks up on another bird! So after 10sec count on this pheasant I flush it and Boudey does that retrieve. One completed Mikes sends him back out on a memory retrieve to get that chukar-the dogs goes straight to it and just as he reaches in to pick up ANOTHER chuckar busts out that had to be right next to the dead one! But all this did not bother Boudey at all and he returned that memory bird to hand never missing a beat. Wow- We were done.

Any feedback from the APR runs today? I have my girl out there with Mike from K&L while I'm stuck here in Baghdad,Iraq. It won't be much longer now though.

6:15 pm update: We had 2 of 3 dogs pass the CPR Rerun. Master B is done with 5 Passes. Master A will be out there for a while as they were waiting for dogs to run because the handlers were running in APR. APR results not in yet. Scott-Will try to give a quick update on 'Jace' if I can but might not be able to post much more till Monday Nite since I have a 6+ hour drive to get back to KC and probably won't hit the road till 8pm if lucky....

Sounds like it was a better day to watch dogs work than to watch the beloved Chiefs! Thanks for the commentary from the field. It's the next best thing to being there. Without compromising operational security, I'll look for you at the KC Retriever Club test if you are going to be there, and introduce myself.

Well, since it is only 3 am, the day two passes are now posted up above right under the original Day 1. We had 2 CPR reruns pass, 5 APR passes and 6 MPR- A passes and 5  MPR-B. Things Rolled along very well. It did get hot again but we seemed to have a little more of a breeze. Thanks to the handlers that pitched in as we ran a little short on help today and also to Doug who scrambled to get over to the test for Sunday.  Saw some great dog work- and saw some great dogs stumble too. These things happen folks-On any given Sunday -anything can happen! At least ya gotta have that if you are a Chiefs Fan .

Kansas is just a few weeks away! See ya Guys there.

Glad Thor could come through for ya on your birthday LeRoy ! I love that dog !  I still need to send a big thank you out to the folks who backed out him as a pup. My lucky day!

Thank you Mr. Brad Lhotak for all you've done with Thor in the time you've had him ; and congrats to all the other Master  and  GMPR dogs you passed this weekend.

Way to go "Bo" and "Rookie" new GMPR's .   Congrat's Andy and Dan.  New MPR's  Mays (CONGRATS  Justin) , Ryder, and Gator.   Not to mention  4X Trooper , 3.5X Ted  , and   Jason Mindon with  3.5X ? GMPR Aaron  .
Got to see some very good dog work and some really nice dogs.

Congrats Travis and Piper and to all those I didn't have the pleasure to watch run.

Had a great time.  Put some faces to names and got to meet alot of good people.

Thanks Dan Koolstra  and Steve for running a great test.  THANKS TO ALL THE JUDGES  for your time and effort.  Always a learning experience for me.

Great to see the number of dogs entered along with the turnout and participation at the test.    Very good dogs there pass or fail.

I would like to say "THANKS" a ton to all who volunteered. When you put on a test, you really rely on many volunteers to get thru the test. Thanks to John and Lisa, Dominick and the gunner that you brought, Josh Bathke, Bruce Marra, Andrew and Robert Chapman, and I know there are many others that were helping on and off all day. That really helps. All in all I thought that we had a very good test. All the judges gave a very good challenging, but do able test. Thank you goes out to them also. Of course congrats goes out to all those who passed. Nice to see some new dogs enter the mpr rankings and see some of the regulars continue on their 4X quest. Thanks again to all who helped.

Dan, THANKS to you for all the work and congrats on Rookie's GMPR!!!  Also thanks to the judges and especially bird planters and all the volunteers working in the heat!  Great dog work this weekend.  Congrats to Brad and all the dogs he ran, they did a really nice job.  It was fun to watch Trooper finish out, Ted smoke a couple tests and fun to watch Jason's dog Aaron.  Very nice yellow dogs!  Andy's dog "Bo" had great runs both days.  Congrats to Ryder (John C), Thor (John S) and Gator (Huntin Fool) for their first Master passes.  Also to everyone else who passed and I did not get to watch.  Big congrats to Troy B and my favorite little red dog Hoosier for smoking the CPR test at only 7 months.  Also, thanks to Troy for getting miss Mays her first Master pass!  Nice work all!

I was gunning for MAYS on her run. it was a tough day to be in the upland, she was definatly on the bubble and running out of time and nose as she was getting hot then BAM she stopped and spun on a hen pheasent, kicked it up, shot it and we were on the way out of the field. She also had a hen pheasent early in the run that refused to flush and we chased in a circle for about 2-3 minutes in front of her befreo we finally caught it, tried to throw it, it flew right back at her, so we caught it and did a simulated retireve. She definatly earned her Steady to wing and shot points on that one.

I had a good time at the test, wish there were four black feet that were a little more still in the upland, but got to gun both days and got to chat "judging" with all four master judges over the two days so definatly got some good perspective on what/how to judge. A godd weekend for sure!

I would like to say thanks to dan and steve and everybody that helped put that hunt on it was fun and very nice place to have a hunt. The judges in the mpr were great I wish I would have watched some more of the cpr and apr but I try an stay zoned in my flight one of these days I will be good enough to just get around and check out all the test. There are some great people in this orginzation and I enjoy every test I go to. The test and weather this weekend were pretty tough and every dog that passed earned it. Glad to see everyone again and see you in kansas
