Who's all coming to IOWA???

See you there.  Going to duplicate last years plans and take Friday off to head to my relatives in Laurens, IA (about 15 minutes from the test site), play some golf Friday afternoon, watch a cousin play HS football Friday night, drink some beers that night, then head off to watch all the talented dogs in the morning.  Just like last year if anyone wants to meet up and hang out and have some beers or what have you let me know.

Tedder will be on the Lhotak truck!     Wish I could be there.

Andrew and I will be heading out Friday around noon..I think it is about 4 hrs from south KC. Plan is for Andrew to run his dog Rip in APR and I will run Val in Master on Sat and Sun...

I will be there.........not sure if we will be staying or just driving back and forth.

You know we'll leave a light on for you LeRoy.  Lisa says you won't have to sleep in the kennel either! Even have a bunk for that world traveling Pigeon character you're ridin with.

Got everything in the mail this morning. Definitely ready to meet some people and in a way get this first run out of the way! Am also hoping my dog doesn't go into heat right before or my luck on the way there!

Hi Robert- You can drop it off even if I am not around- I will be in and out but it does not matter. As far as the other judges I do not have a clue.

Young Gunz- Yep-If she gets into heat or even close please do not bring her to the test - You can email or call me and we can scratch her.

2 Blackdogs! I will definitely leave her home if she is or starting to go into heat. My plan is to take her to the vet the 9th to check her over. Her last heat was in March so expecting anytime now but not sure I'm no expert on being able to tell when its time. My alternative is if she goes in I am hoping she will be done by October2nd for the Kansas test. Should I just wait? Or stick with the plan to take her to the vet the 9th and go from there? I sent the money in and everything she needs to run for CPR.

Here is how you handle heat cycles with a hunt test.  Pray that she goes into heat and she won't.  Worry about it and hope that she doesn't go into heat and she will.  It's Murphy's law, so battle against it by doing the opposite thing

In my expereince with dogs about to or coming in, or going out of heat, sometimes dogs smell awfully good to the boys for a week before they are in (beamer ran after one of these two weeks ago making his honor rather interesting ie liked where he was setting enough there was no chance he wanted the birds) I have also run behind dogs that were in heat up to a month ago and he still thought they smelled good, conversly he was in the back of a truck two different times with two different females that were in full blown spotting the very next day and showed no interest in either of them. the pheromones are rather tough to predict....... My advice, is to put more stock in a male dog right before you leaves opinion then the vet. A reprovet actually offered that advice on a couple dogs that were a week out at teh NAHRA INVITATIONAL. Exact words, "she is not in heat today, but there is no way of knowing what her pheromones are doing, have a non competing male walk by her and see if he is interested.


On another note, Beamer will be running on Saturday, I will be apprenticing on Sunday so see everyone there.
