Had to put my hunting companion down today. CP JoeMacs Brown Sugar. One of the hardest things I have ever had to do. She has been with me for close to 12 years.

sorry to hear this.i almost put toby down because he bit at 2 yrs old. he is almost 8 now and hopefuly will live to 12 .great dog and i know it will be hard to put him down.

JRB,
First, my deepest condolences to you. Never an easy thing to do or get through. I have an 11 year old GSP and I don't think a day passes that thoughts regarding the day that I'll need to make that desicion don't cross my mind. I think you'll find a lot of compassion for you here.

My condolences on your loss. It is a sad fact of life that these great members of our families have a lifespan so short. We outlive all of our dogs but one. I have outlived several great canine friends and can only recommend that after a week or two, no matter how sad that you may be, it is time to begin a new adventure and start looking for a pup. Realize too that when you bring home that brand new puppy, that you will likely outlive him/her too.
I know that all my dogs would have wanted it that way and that they wait for me in heaven. Anyone that doesn't believe that dogs go to heaven either doesn't believe in heaven or has never had a dog. |

JRB - I feel for you man, been there a couple of times and pretty devistating the last time. Remember the good times you had together and think about what a great life that dog was fortunate enough to have with you.
Perhaps you have other dogs but if not I am with Brad, look for a puppy soon. Good for the soul. |
