Just got a surprise call about a youngster I am quite fond of doing very well in a Super Singles / fastest retrieve contest.

I know the owner is proud, and I am too, but not at all taken off guard.

ZZ WON THE EVENT !

ZZ is a one year old " Fireball " that I have been around a bit.
I don't know much about this event, but it was put on by a retriever group comprised of some darn good field trial / hunt tests dogs, as I understand it.
I'm sure when Catherine sees this she will fill me / us in on some details.

Catherine,

Congrats to ZZ from Grandpaco......ZZ is something quite special, although wired for 440 in a 110 world, she / and you are handling it...(I know I have her twin brother) !!!

Way to go girls, especially that darn ZZ Farrarri .

I have been a little distracted since running the dogs Sunday but really wanted to say what a great day it was to run ZZ and Tawas in the event held at Omega Farms.  I could not have been any prouder at how my little girl handled herself or ran her marks.  She was only a year old in May but carried herself like she owned the field and had been there a 100 times before. She was given the name "ZZ Ferrari" by Paco and the name certainly fits her and she wears it well.   I look forward to this fall to be able to hunt over her again.

Just for the fun of it I entered my even younger dog Tawas who will be 1 at the end of September and he also handled himself like a pro.  He healed off lead to the line and never once broke at the gun shot.  He still swims like a puppy but once he had the duck in his mouth he leveled himself right out.

All in all it was a great experience and a great day for the dogs and for myself.  It certainly makes all the days of driving to training and the frustration  and all the hard work so worth it. I met some really great people at the event and may take them up on a few of there offers to go to the other side of the state for a visit.

I am so grateful each day to have such great dogs to work with and great people to train with.
Please enjoy the photos.(black dogs are really hard to take pics of.)
