Hey all we have a BIG turnout for the KS test so plan on getting there extra early as we will need to get that master test rolling as early as possible on Sat!

I am thinking maybe we can start the masters in the dark and get the Blind out of the way 1st since they do not even need to see the mark...and even run the Yella ones 1st since they are easier to see in the dark    Do
any of you handlers have night vision goggles?  heh heh yes I am kidding but you get my drift. BE THERE EARLY!  8 days till the Games begin.

Are we running two flights of masters? I noticed only three judges are posted or are we running only one flight with one of the judges working both days?

Forget the handlers, its the dog wholl need the night vision.....theyre the ones doing the work, the handler is just trying not to get in the way.

I found some glow in the dark paint so we can stripe the black ones down the back and then run them in the dark too!
There is one MPR field each day...lost track of the #'s ..I only have so many fingers and toes!

Sounds like a great test! I can't wait to see it all! Night Blinds! I like the idea! Make the black dogs go first!

That is a very good question..........Ive only been around the APLA for a couple of years, but I cant remember a field this large before. The growth of the APLA is definately a good thing and its great to see more and more new guys at the Master level.

Im a little concerned about a test this large. Fortunately Jeff has done this more times than he can remember and will keep things running as smoothly as possible. I think the MI guys did a great service to their test getting additional judges and splitting the master flight. Too late for this test, but I think the APLA probably needs to consider flight size restrictions as we continue to grow where you either close the test to additional dogs or have a rule where the flight has to be split if you are going to take over X number of dogs. This would ensure enough time for those dogs that are carried through to the upland since that is where the "point" is.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.......Good Luck to all.

Ok you guys. Just focus on your dogs and it will all work out.

And by the way- The running order is posted under the events tab.

Now this is a guideline and was drawn in a truely random manner. We will be adjusting a good bit so lets all be flexible. For instance , Tom got drawn as the 1st to go in both CPR B and MPR on Sat! Now Tom is a great guy and plenty able trainer and handler but unless he has a Cape and a big red S painted on his chest this just is not going to happen. The emphasis will be on keeping that MPR loaded and running. We cannot affors to be waiting on a dog there...everything else will be managed around that. It will work. We have a great weather forecast for once so lets all just be positive and get er' done! See you there and GOOD LUCK to everyone of you.

If Paul and Brice set up a real hard land and water series, they will lose most of them. Just kidding. I think they will have 2 flights of Masters.

Steve,

Not complaining, you guys have all done this before and Im sure things will go great. Im really looking forwad to the test. I just think it is something we as an organization need to consider. All of the HRC tests I have run limit each flight to 25 dogs athe the finished level and were pretty much a dawn till dark affair and there was no upland involved.

25 master dogs.....water series first at an average of 12 minutes per dog with rebirding, thats 250 minutes or 5 hours
20 master dogs make the land series at an average of 7 minutes, thats 140 minutes or 2.3 hours
Carry 14 to the upland field at 12.5 minutes a run and 5 minute rebird and, thats 245 minutes or just over 4 hours

Thats a 11.5 hour day, assuming a pretty heavy drop rate and without the judges having lunch and no tear down/set up time between series and starting exactly at 8 it will be really tight with a 7 pm sunset time.

I have a set of SOG wingers and Im willing to donate the use of at one of the levels if that will help from an equipment standpoint if you want to use the APLA equipment to set up both the land and water master series so they are ready to go.

Steve,

Thanks for getting the running order posted. Looks like Val got a good draw and I will be able to go down and watch her with plenty of time to get back to go to work.

I am very nervous!!! I think there is most likely a 50/50 chance she will pass, but I guess that goes for most everyone! LOL!

Looks like she is one of the youngest dogs running, but I still hold out hope....I will STAY AWAY til after she runs!

See you Saturday....I sure hope she does well cause my father-in-law is coming down too and he is a Brittney guy...he would just love to give me shit about my dog failing!!!
